As many of you know I live in arkansas & constantly have to listen to sports-talk about the 'hogs'. I have to admit I don't mind cause they are completely harmless, like a fat ugly friend you can trust to go out with your girlfriend. Anyway, people here are raving about petrino bla bla. That kinda faded here lately with some of their loses but the one thing that blew my mind and I always bring up to razorback fans who somehow think they can talk shit about kiffin is razorback recruiting. (and believe me I heard a lot of smack about kiffin, especially early)

I can't believe how terrible petrino is at recruiting. They are next to last in the SEC as a whole! I never paid much attention to them but it shocked me they are behind Vandy. Now that Nutt is at ole piss they have a decent class and it seems the hogs exchanged a decent coach/recruiter (nutt) for a great coach/terrible recruiter (petrino).

I know most of you dont give a shit but its still an SEC opponent (sometimes). And the funny thing about the sports radio & fans down here is NO ONE talks about recruiting, unlike us TN fans who follow it, some as much as the regular FB season. I know I keep up pretty tight with recruiting. I had to vent on it cause I don't get it. Let me tell you, petrino is not going to be in the mix in the west if he keeps it up. Its all LSU & Bama over here.

And arkansas is pretty much a hole as far as talent goes, I think he has mainly recruit out of texas, which has to suck. If petrino pulls off a top 25 class I will be shocked, honestly, and that is not competitive in the SEC.

petrino put a few guys in the nfl during his louisville days. i guess recruiting in the SEC is tougher. you'd think being close to memphis would be an advantage. other coaches might be negative recruiting against petrino because of the falcons situation and not staying at one job.

The Piggies are in that No Man's Land of the SEC with USCe, Kensucky, Ole Miss, and possibly MSU.

I think most agree there is a Big 6 in the SEC (UT, UF, UGA, AU, LSU, AL) which leaves the other 6 for scraps. IMO Ole Miss, MSU, and Candy all have to have the stars perfectly aligned to ever win a SECC-absolute perfect alignment.

But Piggies, USCe, and Kensucky are only slightly higher than the 3 bottom feeders. All 3 have really nice facility's. Kensucky and Arkansas are the main FB programs in their state but their states are not full of players. USCe has the players instate but has Clem's Son, UGA, UF, FSU, UT, UNC, etc all at their doorstep.

As for Nutthead he seems to have always had decent hard nosed defenses but little offense. Petrino seems just the opposite. Neither seem to be very good recruiters. Nutthead is a cheerleader on the field who wears his emotions on his sleeve. Petrino is a slimebag who quit on the Falcons midseason which I have NEVER seen a HC do- just up and QUIT while running out of town!

Not to nit pick you ONUV but Fayetteville is over 300 miles away from Memphis. It's roughly the same distance to Dallas as it is Memphis.

AR is a tough place to recruit because it's in the middle of nowhere. They absolutely have to keep any in-state talent then fill in from OK, IL, MO, TX. It's just hard for them being in such a remote location.
