My son and I played today.

It was his first round ever (he's 9). He shot a 72 on a par 29 executive 9 hole course. Not too bad. That's a good day.

congrats to your son......Cherrish your days with him on the golf course...I started taking my son with me when he was young....I had a big group I played with every sat. and sun. and he would ride in the cart...hold the flag etc....he learned alot about the game before he ever swung a club....then he started playing and his sole goal was to get to where he could beat his dad...took him awhile but he did it....now its about 50-50...hes grown and married and a father and lives in another state so we dont get to play very much anymore.....
