I've been working too damn much. Played for the 1st time in 2 months last weekend and felt (and probably looked) like an absolute idiot putting. As soon as I addressed the ball it was like I didn't know what the fook to do. I only shot about a 10 strokes worse than usual but it was all around the green.

I can usually get off the tee pretty well after a lay-off, but from a 100 yards in, it's a different story. Touch, distance, putting, chipping, you name it, it sucks right now. I'll be a different golfer in another 6 weeks...I hope it's somebody good! :yes2:

I'm starting to slip away from the game. Went a couple of weeks ago and was just terrible. Wanted to go home after the first couple of holes. Had no idea what I was doing in the short game and was only hitting it about 240yds off the tee, and was putting like a blind man.
I'm just not into the game anymore. Probably will wait till my son gets old enough to go before I play again.

I play better sometime after a layoff.....Dont put as much pressure on myself..When I played 2-3 times every week I expected to play well.....I have gotten away from golf the past 3 years....I use to be addicted to it...I mean Addicted.....

...which is to say, very poorly...but I was never a good golfer to begin with. I used to play probably once or twice a month and never got any better or worse. Once our son was born (just turned 9) I pretty much stopped playing and have averaged, no joke, about one round per year since his birth. He kicks my butt on Wii golf.

Not much worse than normal xcept for short game and putting.
I had not played for years till I played some last year. I played a few times and then went and played with a buddy. Great foursome. 2 of em shot near par and I shot an 82 buddy shot an 84. By far my best round. The calming effect of good golfers and not a lot of shit going on really helped.
I am typically a mid 90's guy with potential to shoot sub 80 if I played and practiced. Just dont have time.

My son is 13 and I've taken him out three times now in the past couple of months and he loves it. It's probably going to be what keeps me playing as we have a great time and he's actually starting to hit the ball pretty well...

Generally hit the ball better after a layoff, but play worse. I know, it doesnt make any sense to me either.

I do tend to hit long shots better, as I seem to forget bad habits and go back to just trying to strike the ball - but my short game....100 yards and in is usually terrible. The more I play the worse my long shots get and the better I get around the green.
The net effect is that my score doesn't really change much, and at this point in my life, I'm playing maybe six times a year, so I really can't expect that to change much.....
