View Full Version : I wonder who really sent the letter to Trooper?

Trooper Taylor has a smack letter sent to him, supposedly by someone signing CLK and EB's names. I wonder who really sent it? I wonder if it was even a Tennessee fan. Years ago, two high schools in town were bitter rivals. A brick was thrown through a window. The offended school got pumped up. After the game was over, it was revealed that one of the school's own coaches had thrown the brick through the window.

Auburn has done this kind of shit for 40 years. When I was at UT, beginning in 1969, some guy would always write a letter that was published in the B'ham paper that would diss Auburn and put them in a frenzy for our game. Shug Jordan was a master at the psychological side of the game as well.

Back when I was sports editor of the daily paper in Dyersburg, I once drove to another town to get a proper post mark and sent a letter to the Dyersburg High School football team. The head coach was the only person that knew who the letter really came from and it apparently helped get the team fired up. I suspect that is exactly what happened in this situation. Auburn is bush league, always have been.

That is some weak shit. No wonder they are the perennial stepchild in that state.

Does this make you bush league? j/k
It would not surprise me if Auburn fans and, or coaches sent the letters to themselves. Then again, it would not surprise me if Tennessee fans actually sent the letters.

I thought Trooper was a good coach, but am not unhappy that he found an opportunity at Okla St.
He had his own agenda and IMO was a loose cannon where the Vol program is concerned. I know he asked two people to assist in projects that if they became public knowledge would have brought NCAA sanctions on the Vols. That is a fact I'm certain of, because I was one of the two that was approached. I thank Trooper for what he brought to Tenn football, and it's fine to be grateful, but face the fact that situations are not always what they appear to be. Good luck Trooper.

If the letter had to be translated from pig latin into English then there's no doubt we've found our man.

can we still collect a love offering so his wife can get her mansion?
Listen I was real upset when she didn't get her mansion. After all, her husband brought us such fine young men as D Morely and that Henderson kid and all kinds of fat useless OL.
She should have gotten that mansion just based on gerald williams alone.
Mansion.

I doubted that story the second I read it. Does anybody write letters these days?

Yeah, right, like CLK and EB have the time and inclination to write a letter to an assistant coach to talk smack.
I swear, this seems to happen quite a bit at Auburn Years ago, before one of the Iron Bowls, Dye had someone read a letter from some veteran from 'Nam...read about how much Auburn meant to him yada yada yada. Turns out letter was a fake.
