The Georgia faithful will not like a loss against us. Richt's team is showing a sure sign of Fulmerism- they are ranked 118th in penalties. Smoke and mirrors time if we cover the 1 1/2 spread and win.

The 1st nail was driven in last year when their most talented team choked away a season that was supposed to end in a National Championship.

The key matchup will be the clutch play of #8 vs. the defensive wizardry of Willie Martinez. Two albatross face off, which one will crack first! If ever opposing forces deserved to be described as immovable object meets unstoppable force, this would be it. :brow:

I think Richt is a little smarter than Fulmer. Martinez will be gone at the end of this year, that fire is getting old on his ass.

Did you mean immobile object meets immaterial force?

Thoughts---
I'm wondering if the officiating crew will go easy on Georgia since they got royally screwed last Saturday?
Tennessee has played three consecutive spread teams with mobile quarterbacks. It will be very interesting to see if the Vol defense can rebound with a strong outing against a more traditional type of offense. Cox is a better QB than Crapton, but pressured, he's not that much better.
Is Gerald Williams ever going to live up to his potential?
I think Monte rolls the dice on Saturday with a heavy dose of blitzing against Cox. LaMarcus Thompson was one of the best defenders for Vols until his injury. Hope he will be near 100 percent on Saturday.

We have to be in Cox's face and hit him often. It's been awhile since we have faced this type of offense. We definately hit UCLA qb alot. Cox needs the same dose.

Db's can't eff up though. Berry needs to pick off a couple of passes.

Crompton has to protect ball and move offense some. We need a couple of td's before half time.

Of all the things I could think of to call JC the term "unstoppable force" is probably dead last on the list. UGA fans might quibble with term "immovable object" to describe Martinez's defense as well. I get your drift though; which one will be the most incompetent? UGA's defense isn't spectacular but it isn't world-class bad. JC is definitely world-class bad. Advantage: UGA.

UGA's awesome WR A.J. Green is also #8 I think. Do we have anyone but Berry who can gurd this guy? And if you devote Berry to him then you take UT's leading tackler away.

good pt AV. that's why i pointed out that our db's couldn't eff up. that's the main player that can hurt us.

cox needs to be hit often. he needs to get the same treatment as the ucla qb. hopefully cox is not very mobile.

2004 was Richts first nail. UGA's 2004 = UT's 2001.

Unreal this game is a pick em. I would look at it as our biggest upset this decade.

Joe Cox is terrible not Crompton bad but not much better...

they do have great WRs but their defense has issues...

Monte and Crew will eat up this non spread team on offense...special teams and offense have to play at least okay and we can win this game...

UGA is the king of losing upset games to Tennessee, since 1989

Really? Miami 2003ish, UGA 2005 were much much bigger.

Agreed the biggest UT upsets this decade in no order:

2001 - Florida
2003 - Florida, Miami
2004 - Florida, UGA
2005 - LSU
2006 - California, UGA
2007 - UGA, Arkansas

This team is much worse than all of those teams except for 2005. And at the time we beat LSU we didn't realize how big of an upset it was. 2003 miami would be my second pick, assuming we win sat, but Casey Clausen only lost one road game ever, and that Miami team was drained from coming off a loss to Virginia Tech, which eliminated them from the NC picture. But I'll say, that's the only game that would even come close.
