Especially the Eric Berry ads. Also shots at the ugliness of our campus, the jumbotron, etc. I've posted on the thread. I can't disagree with much of what they wrote. Sheesh. How are we going to rein in these idiots who produce the UT football games? And did Bobby Denton really call them the Auburn War Eagles?

Could care less about the opinions of Auburn fans at this point.

Anybody that attends an away game experience and the first thing that comes to their mind is "I am not impressed" is probably a jerk and full of themselves.

Our crowd used to loud as shit. The product on the field has alot to do with it. Playing from behind 23-6 tends to quiet a crowd.

Auburn fans need to realize that not every University campus can be located in bumble-f'ing-egypt like Auburn. UT is basically an extentsion of downtown Knoxville and it bordered by a river. Auburn has a very pretty campus, but there is jack shit to do off campus.

Oh by the way, F You Quickdraw.

somebody who actually lives in that shithole Auburn is criticizing another campus?

I do agree about the Jumbotron and we do have the worst P.A. Announcer I have ever seen in college football. Denton mispronounced at least 5 names doing the starting line-ups.

saw the Auburn War Eagle when referring to their team?

And did Bobby Denton really call them the Auburn War Eagles?
Auburn doesn't call itself the War Eagles? And the Tigers? And the Plainsmen? And 3 or 4 other names as well?

Actually, I looked it up. You are technically correct but it's not an uncommon error:

Tigers or War Eagles? (http://www.auburn.edu/administration/trademark/factsandfigures.htm)
Auburn's nickname is the TIGERS.
Auburn's battle cry is "WAR EAGLE!"
Through the years, these two Auburn terms have often been used interchangeably and incorrectly. In fact, when the Tigers play a game on the road, there is often an article written in the local paper wondering why Auburn has three nicknames -- the Auburn Tigers, the Auburn War Eagles and the Auburn Plainsmen.
To set the record straight, Auburn has only one nickname -- the Auburn Tigers.

"War Eagle" is a battle cry, used by Auburn fans in the same manner Alabama fans yell "Roll Tide!" and Arkansas fans yell "Woo Pig Sooie!" You never hear Alabama referred to as the Alabama Roll Tides or Arkansas as the Arkansas Sooie Pigs, and to call Auburn teams the Auburn War Eagles would be just as incorrect. The battle cry "War Eagle" should never have an "s" on the end of it. The nickname "Tigers" comes from a line in Oliver Goldsmith's poem, "The Deserted Village," published in May 1770, "where crouching tigers wait their hapless prey..."

The term "Plainsmen" comes from a line in that same Goldsmith poem, "Sweet Auburn, loveliest (sic) village of the plain..." Since Auburn athletes were, in the early days, men from the Plains, it was only natural for newspaper headline writers to shorten that to "Plainsmen."
To clarify things, we are the Auburn Tigers. Our battle cry of War Eagle illustrates our spirit. Plainman portrays the character of an Auburn man or woman. It may be confusing to an outsider, but to Auburn people, it is very simple!

I think the ESPN announcer said on the frickin air that the UT Stadium Announcer mispronounced Gene Chiziks name!!! Too funny.

At one point he said Auburn had a 3rd and 2. The QB ran a sneak which gained about 6 inches, everyone in the end zones cheered since they can't really tell the distances from their vantage point. Next thing you hear is Denton say "1st down Auburn" and everyone is like WTF?!

I'm quite certain Chizik has had his name mentioned on ESPN, CBS, Knoxville talk radio, and he can't get the freakin' name right?

He didn't know how to pronounce Vladimir Richard's name either. Pathetic.

Does he not do any "show prep" at all?:puzzled:

How old is Denton? He was there when I was a freshman in 1969. Won't he ever retire?

When we played New Mexico a few years back, he called it "New Meheeco". I always hate it when he gets so excited when he announces a first down for the other team.

We have too many long-standing "traditions" that have become tired and worn out. The band, of which I was once a member, is not a competitive SEC band any longer. It was once thought of as one of the best in the nation.

UT fans have always been a mystery to me. They have never seemed loud to me except at certain times. The students have never been wild like at other SEC schools. The band has always been poor in the stands. The psychedelic lights, ads, jumbotron, rap music contribute to the declining game-day experience. Neyland holds little magic anymore.

I think our campus is getting prettier all the time. I'd definitely take it over Auburn's.

The Auburn games was my first game of the year. What I liked were the chairbacks in the ZZ section. It sure is nice to have some back support and space for my butt and legs. I'll probably try to find future seats in sections that have the chairs. It makes for a more enjoyable experience. The next best thing to happen is not being patted down as we entered the stadium. Not that my bladder will agree, but it is good to know I can drink in the stadium if I so choose.

The piped in music is terrible. If I never have to hear Kid Rock again, it will be to soon. The band was disappointing. I counted roughly 190 members on the field. What the h e double hockey sticks happened? The sound did not translate. It was pissing me off when piped in music got in the way of hearing the band, but maybe they were trying to cover for their lack of sound. Can we perform a seance and get Dr. Julian back in some way or form. As others have pointed out, Bobby Denton needs to go. I always feel like the teacher from the Charlie Brown cartoons has found a second career.

RE: Knoxville gameday thoughts.....

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My biggest gripe was having to buy beer from 2 tailgates on the way in. We stopped by a few UT tailgates after they said something to us. I have given out a 12 pack to people every AU game I've been at. I asked the guy if he could spare a beer for me and my buddy, and was told both times that they had some they would sell. Bush league, vols.

I counted them, too. There were exactly 190 members carrying an instrument.

backwoods folks prefer the country and the smell of cow manure, so I thought their comments were pretty funny. Also, they all seemed to think we had added seats to the stadium by making the seats tighter. Just so they can understand-thet thar was dun yars ago and we dun went down the last few yars by 5,000 you dumb mokes....not adding anything other than fancy club level cement pond looking areas that cuntry folks like the barners would not be accustomed to.

They beat us and generally are good fans....especially compared to their cousins.
