I heard a good one about the generosity of the Philbilly from what I believe to be a credible source that would have been in position to witness the story. A not for profit organization in the Knoxville area was opening a fitness center a few years ago and approached Fulmer about doing some advertising to publicize the opening (the Philopotomous is not exactly the face of fitness but that is another issue).

It seems Phildo was willing to do the advertising segment but to do it he demanded free memberships not only for himself but Ms. Vicky AND his daughters. Remember, he was dealing with a not for profit organization. The not for profit ended up not using him.

It is almost inconceivable that a man making millions of dollars would make such a request of a not for profit organization. I would bet there are all sorts of stories floating around out there about things that Fulmer demanded for his own benefit.

It would not seem out of the question to supply him with five free memberships- what $500 initiation? $150 (5 * $30)month membership fees to gain maybe hundreds of members?

I cannot stand the guy, he obviously is a prick. But at the same time, if they wanted to use him to gain members- that would be a small fee for a celebrity.

The golf club I am a member of is "not for profit". That does not mean we are a charitable organization....just that we operate that way.

Gotta agree with Naper, doesn't seem like 4 free memberships is too much to ask.

The bigger question is, why would a Fitness center want Fat Phil as a spokesman?

The free memberships are probably not too much give. The fact that Fulmer asked for them is what bothers me and I think this is what turned the non for profit off. It was not a country club type not for profit in question.

Sangle Wang-Maybe they wanted Phil to advertise it to show what you would look like like if you did not use the fitness facilities. :rotfl:
