thanks. I really hope somebody youtubes that pregame thing. Also, I agree with the hosts- his jersey needs to be retired or whatever they call it at the Neyland.
The suggestion that they pump him leading the team in maxims to the Jumbotron would get the crowd up huge

Any, and I mean ANY, publicity that Majors gets from the new staff or the UTAD just sends the University of Fulmer fans into a foaming at the mouth tizzy. I love it!!!!

Double Dittos--- This drives two feet in diameter a-holes like DiaTribeViagraVol into a head spinning convulsion. The Fulmeraholics don't want any recognition for Coach Majors because it is always a reminder of what a roster chocked full of talent that he left behind for The Human Jumbotron to run with over the rest of the decade of the 1990s.

There was a thread recently about Jack Daniels and barbeque on Shitscape and old Babblin Bobby Maddron just had to throw in a snotty remark about asking coach Majors. Hey Bobby, you a lowlife, chicken shitzz mofo.

In the modern era...yes but outside of Doug Atkins who was probably the greatest DE ever...Majors and Peyton were the only players to be runner-ups for the Heisman..and both should have won...Majors still gives Paul Hornung Hell every time he sees him...Hornung played for a LOSING Notre Dame team...Damn I have always hated that freaking team...

Wasn't around for those days, but I believe he finished second in the Heisman race and was named an All American.

LJ going backwards or forwards jm [as a player]just doesn't stack up.Going back to the 30's Suffridge is more important. If jm goes up Hank Lauricella would be at least an equal candidate.Hack,Mack & Bobby Dodd surpass jm with old time Vol fans..................grandpa

Wasn't around in those days...Just remember Majors finished runner-up in the Heisman..There are sure A LOT of great old Vol players that is a fact.

was a H-man runnerup.Plus Suffridge & others made multi-year AA teams.jm had one good year. Not trying to tarnish jm.But as a player there are at least 15-20 Vols contributed to Vol football history more than jm.majors played during lean years for tennessee football.....................

Hank Lauricella
Johnny Majors
Heath Shuler
Peyton Manning

Majors best claim to Legend status as a player would be his back-to-back SEC Player of the Year Awards. We've had plenty of All-Americans and Heisman finalist types. We have more members in the College Hall of Fame than just about anybody this side of Notre Damn. I don't think any other Vol has the B2B league MVPs.

I don't know where you draw the line on "ring of Honor" type lists. The claim was originally something about requiring both college and NFL sucess--hence Atkins (whose name they originally spelled wrong when they put up the damn sign), White, and Manning. Since Majors was about the size of a decent modern day middle school RB, the NFL wasn't interested.

For the record grampa, Majors said there would be a lot of players such as Cafego that should get in the ring before him. You could tell Johnny didn't like the requirements though and he probably suspects that they were designed by Flummo to keep him out, and he is most likely right.

wasn't lean in 1956. you cannot name 15 or 20. Majors is easily top three, and in my book number two behind Atkins. Lauricella and any other HOF should be recognized, but I never said I agreed that we should be doing this ring of honor thing anyway. However, if they are, Majors should also be there.

True Johnny should have finished ahead of Hornung in 56. BUT hands down the best player in college football that year was Jim Brown of Syracuse, but it would still be 5 years until the first black player(ironically Ernie Davis of Syracuse) would win the Heisman.

How good was Jim Brown? He led the NFL in rushing 9 of the 10 years he played.

I dont know where the ring of honor should be put to rest, but I really am puzzled by the criteria of a great pro career for recognition in a UT ring of honor. What does a NFL career have any reflection on a college career?

I look at Johnny as the biggest name in UT history other than Neyland, just because what he did as a player and a coach. Many of our all time great wins were when he played or coached.
