...as a result of UT football? What damage did you do?

After watching that Bama idiot nearly tear up his trailer over an obviously correct call, I had to think about how I have reacted in the past.

The worst I've ever let anything UT Football affect me is when P.M. lost the Heisman vote to Woodson. I was walking out the door to a Christmas party. It reuined my whole night and weekend....and I know I ruined my families' weekend by being a sullen grumpy old fart.

Other than that, I really try not to let the actions of 19-year-olds affect by behavior. Usually successful...

It's hard to narrow down to one game or even two for that matter.

It got to a point that i would just sit on couch a pretty much make the same facial expressions as the Phildo.

But in the days I would get really pissed:

I used to go change the oil in the car if I got pissed. I bet we had the cleanest running car in the country.

After the loss to LSU in the '01 SEC championship game. It took me over a month to recover from that disaster and I still get mad about it when I'm given a chance.

One of the worst (if not the worst) performances (especially coaching) of any Vols game ever.

Originally it was the '90 Bama game 9-6 fiasco. That prompted my 1 and only call in to Vol calls. I was of course blown off. That was dwarfed by the '93 Bama game. The infamous David Palmer game. I was in PT school in Southern California and we had to go to a sports bar to watch the game. There were a lot of USC and UCLA in the bar watching games, but they did not really care like I did. When Palmer went around our defense who inexplicably let him go I could not believe. My wife (then girl friend was with me and she had never seen anger of a sporting event). I yelled something at the TV, don't know if it was jibberish, or cursing in some form of yet to be discovered foreign language, jumped up and my chair somehow, defying gravity went up and backwards into another table. My hat went across the room and I stormed outside. This of course left my girl friend (amazingly after this display my wife) to apologize to the table behind us, find my hat and find me outside. She was angry when she gave me my hat back, but she was livid when I flung it again.

We watched the Bama video together last night, and she brought up this very incident.

I can't remember the exact game, though I think it was an Alabama game in the late 80's - maybe the '89 fiasco at Legion Field. We were renting house off Sutherland Ave. The house sat away from the street up on a hill and the street was a good 50 yards from the house and down the hill. I was recording the game on VCR and got so angry at halftime I took the tape out of the VCR, walked out the front door and hurled it full force onto the street. I never retrieved it.

There was also the time at home either '92 or '94 Alabama that I was so furious I almost jumped out of the stands and punched an Alabama player. Our seats were in K, row 4 at the time and that's right next to the tunnel where the visiting players come out/go in. They were saying crap on their way into the locker room after the game and I ran down to the wall and almost lost it and jumped over. Thankfully, I didn't get a beat down by a Tide player that day, although UT did.

I've since mellowed and no longer get that mad, partly because I stopped caring as long as Phats was coach. Losses will probably hurt a little more this year but they still sting less than they used to.

golf: thanks for bringing up the David Palmer tie. I was at Legion Field and sat there sick to my stomach as he simply carved up our D.

Consider yourself fortunate, I still haven't completely recovered from that game. The orange roses in the stands in Atlanta, the 17-7 lead in the 2nd quarter. We had the whole trip planned out: road trip from Knoxville to Cali, stopping to see people/places along the way, UT playing in the Rose Bowl for the 1st time in 60 years. Damn you, Matt Mauck.

I was at that game. 12 yrs old back in 1996 and was my very first UT game. Very sad experience.

These memphis fans still print and wear shirts like that every year we play them. They have an incredibly huge chip on their shoulder for all things SEC related.

The Jabar Gaffney Florida game in 2000 pissed me off to no end. That is the only time that I have truly rednecked out at opposing fans. I hollered. I cursed. Back in the tailgate lot afterwards, we threw full beer cans at a Gator RV, which prompted them to leave. As they were pulling out of the lot we tore off their Gator flags and magnets, called them everything but white people and told them to never come back to Knoxville. And you know what? I bet they never have. Nobody could piss you off more than a Spurrier coached team back in the day.

A close second is the 59-20 Swamp debacle in 2007. I threw a remote and yelled "Mother Fucker!!!!!" in front of my wife's friend's toddlers when Ainge and Foster fumbled that hand off. My wife was aghast. But they are Gator fans so screw 'em!

For me, it was the 1999 Florida game in the swamp. For one thing, Jamal ran like a dang wuss, basically laid down that night. But the thing that really got me was when Alex Brown had like 800 sacks on Tee Martin coming off that end. Flummo, the great line coach, couldn't figure out how to block the SOB after the 10th sack. I was so infuriated, I think I blacked out.

I'd also say the Vandy loss that I sat in the stands and witnessed a couple of years ago, except for the fact that things were so bleak I could do nothing but laugh.

Yep, Mempiss '96. Was watching it with good friends and good food, and we fell on our swords. I kept saying we were gonna f*ck around & lose this game, and damned if it didn't happen.

The gayturd millisecond TD catch made me livid. We still beat ourselves by not stopping them in that game.

One more - When A. Brown planted a gayturd flag in our checkerboards, I damn near went to the field myself. Common sense prevailed, despite my 6'7" height (on OM anyway - Aren't we ALL 6'7" here?).

The worst for me was the (2006?) UF game where we were passing them silly while they stubbornly continued to defend against the running game. We cruised into the 2nd half and Fulmer decides to ditch the passing game in favor of the run which basically resulted in us throwing the game away. That was the day that converted me into a Fulmer-hater. I still wonder if he threw that game on purpose; I wish that the university would hire a PI to check into it because it was a game we were winning going away until he changed strategies at halftime. Talk about a halftime adjustment!

The second-worst was the Gaffney non-catch in the end zone to steal a win from us that even SOS admitted later (of course he admitted it; it was just too good an opportunity for him to then turn around and gloat over it) was a non-catch. SEC refs are easily the worst in the country consistently and they have been ever since that day.

That was easily the UF "phantom touchdown pass" game. I'm surprised the officials made it out of the stadium alive that day, after screwing the pooch on that call.

The loss that hurt the most? 2001 SEC championship in Atlanta. It was miserable to ride the metro after the game, listening to the LSU fans sing and cheer. I've never seen so many in orange so quiet as after that game.

Bama for the obvious reasons. I think it was 17-9 and they go 80+ yards in 1:27 I think. Timeout before 2-point conversion, I fell , gets D ready for Palmer. Nope.

Then the Cal game. This was more the added anger over all the last few years. It blew when we punted behind by 2 TDs with a few minutes to go. A clear signal they CPF had rather be butt-fucked than try to win the game. I was a little worried about myself because I realixed at the time I was out of control but I could not get myself calmed down. I later learned my girlfriend was ready to call 911 because she feared I was going to have heart attack

2) 2001 Hobnail Boot game in Richt's first year. We play like sheeyat all day only to see Stephens break a long one to go ahead and win the game at the end. But not sooooo fast!!! Phillie Da Poocher calls a pooch kick which gives UGA and FR QB David Green the ball on the 45 yard line. 3rd and Chavis then takes over with the Mustang Johnny package.

3) 2004 ND game with The Damien Call where Phildo got jealous of Randyman making a late 2nd quarter call the week before. So Phildo calls the Damien Play which results in Ainge getting injured & out for whole season, causes us to lose against ND team about to fire their HC, blows up chance at BCS game, and quite possibly leads to the distaster of 2005 season at QB.

And the kicker is that Philapotamous was DIRECTLY responsible for ALL 3 of the above!!!

All of the ones mentioned were bad, but nothing tops our last trip to Gainesville for me. Watching that smug sonuvabitch Meyer basically take a shit on our program, knowing he would never have to worry about Phil repaying the favor. The whole time that fat fucking imbecile was standing over there looking clueless/helpless/nutless. We've been blown out before by better teams, but I have never seen the orange disrespected as it was by the Gators and CUM. Our program was violated that day, and the man who was charged with defending our program was bent over doing his best Ned Beatty impersonation for all the world to see. Very tough one for me here...

I'll go on record as saying the 1999 game against Florida in Gainesville where Alex Brown owned our offensive Fulmanders mindset. The toss sweep on 4th and 3 at their 40 was the best we could come up with after the TO? El Fuckin' STINKO! I mean we refused to get a TE or a FB on Brown and didn't audible away from him (mental breakdown by Sanders, Fulmers, and Tee as well). They blamed the crowd noise. Alex Brown though was offsides most of the night and it amazed me how the refs refused to blow the whistle. He did have a helluva night, but several times was offsides! If there was ever a game where Fukamo looked like a piece of stool defacated out of the ass of Jabba the Hutt and adorned with an orange hat, it was that balmy night in Gainesville. They had been talking for weeks they were going to take Tee's head off and Alex Brown put a dummy of Tee in his locker with a rope around his neck! 3rd play of the game, he knocks Tee back 5 damn yards and only gets a personal foul. I question why we didn't try to break Doug Johnson's neck after that, but the lack of testicles by Boss Hog is why.

Other games that got my throat raw and bp up...

Vandy 2005, Georgia 2003, Florida 1995, Florida 1996, Florida 1994, Florida 1997, Florida 2000, Florida 2002, Florida 2007, Florida 2008 (particularly Teabags Gator Chomp at the end), Alabama 2007, Alabama 2002, Alabama 1993, Alabama 1990, Miss. St. 1986, Alabama 1989, Memphis 1997, Wyoming 2008, South Carolina 2005, LSU 2000, LSU 2001 Champ. game, Arkansas 1999, LSU 2007 Champ. game, ah hell...they all hurt, but those were some of the tougher ones to cuss!

getting TD's and I said.."This is gonna fly up and bite up in the ass"..and it did..The Gafney DIDN'T catch that damn ball....The 93 game where UT let Bama drive 80 yards in 2 minutes with no timeouts and let David Palmer basically just walk in and tie the thing up.

The 2001 SECCG was it for me...17-7 halftime lead..Chance to play for a national title for the second time in 4 years..Knocked out Rohan Davey and the starting tailback..and Matt Mauck becomes a LSU legend...plus the offense only scored ONE FIELD GOAL...and we had Clausen, Stephens, Stallworth, Washington, Eric Parker and Witten...that was the downward spiral of UT football...You could see it on his face..Phillip Fulmer and John Chavis( hell he always had that expression) didn't know what to do...OUT COACHED!..
