View Full Version : Went pretty much as I expected

There really isn't much to complain about but...

Crompton still sucks with four tipped passes, two interceptions, and a fumbled snap. All the running backs ran well. Taureen Poole appears to be the odd man out.

The kickoffs still leave a lot to be desired with most low and not reaching the endzone. Palardy can't get here soon enough.

I wish Nick had gotten more playing time. I truly believe he will finish the season as the starter. You can really tell he has put in some work in the weight room. I think I read where he may be able to break CJ Leak's weight-lifting records.

Marsalis Teague is very impressive. He looks like a mature Cedrick Wilson ALREADY.

Lamarcus Thompson had an excellent game. He was all over the place today.

To my knowledge there were no serious injuries. I was scared shitless when Bryce was slow to get up in the first quarter. I love how Brown got the first touchdown of the Kiffin era.

I wish the TV cameras would focus on Ed Orgeron more. I only think I saw him once after a stop on third down.

Crompton had an excellent game, don't know what you were watching. Yep, he made some mistakes but no worm burners and no cheerleader knockouts. He threw to spots and recievers ran to the ball. Recievers got separation, etc. Excellent game- long way to go.

He had 5 TD's today. I hope he keeps having sucky games like that. He was accurate, and showed good touch on several passes. If they remedy the problem with tipped balls, then he will be fine this year. (no doubt that this staff will get that fixed) I don't know what game you were watching, but he looked pretty good to me.

We were improved in every aspect, including quarterback, but four tips, two picks, and a fumbled snap will cause you to lose a competitive game. Sorry guys. He still sucks.

sorry that you do not understand that tipped balls have as much to do with the offensive line as it does the QB. If the d line jumps up, knock their ass back. Two tips in one game- bfd, man you are looking for problems that are not out of the norm.

Then some tipped passes and turnovers will get you beat. Thankfully 5 touchdown passes by Crompton overcame a couple of tipped passes.

One can look for the good or look for the bad. I see you like to be negative.

To each his own.

He had a good game for WKU. If he can make the same passes in tighter coverage then he's doing something.

I guess the question really is this. Did he at any time in any game look this good last year? No. That shows that he has improved, the offense may be simpler, and that bodes well for our offensive production this year.

I fell asleep and was awaken by the Bammers after the long pass to Mays adn wasn't sure I was dreaming this or not.

But did you just say "one can look for the good or the bad, I see you like to be negative?" This has to be the most ridiculous staement on this site I have ever read. Without a doubt, number one.:appl::appl::appl::appl:

Is absurdly low.

Did you not understand my post? Do you need it explained to you? Or are you just being oblivious?

It takes all kinds I suppose. And you will likely misinterpret that statement as well.

Neyland not close to capacity. Several rows empty under the Jumbotron for example.

Crowd very restrained IMO, quite almost. We'd make a nice run of 4 or 5 yards and there'd hardly be any reaction.

Lot's of folks leave at mid-point of 4th QTR. What's up with that?

I was expecting a more vocal and enthusiast crowd for Kiffin's debut.

Perhaps after several years of being Fulmerized, the folks don't know how to be an effective fan.

This economy still has many people staying home. Believe it or not, Bristol didn't sell out the night race this year. First time that has happened in I don't know when.

Anybody know what tickets were going for at kickoff today?

I'm not on the Crompton bandwagon either. The tipped passes is a huge concern. That happened over and over again last year and I hoped it would get corrected. I do think that was the best he's ever played, but only good enough for a 7-5 or 8-4 season. After today I'd like to do better than that.

WKU had to get tipped (no pun intended) off by film study to that. They were leaving their feet a lot and making a point to go after the ball. Too much of a coincidence to be anything else.

I'm just glad our coaches will see the same thing and correct it next week. I know this preseason they have rolled the pocket a lot. I don't recall seeing them do that much today. We'll see more diversity in the offense next week and hopefully have more to show at Florida.

Were not Crompton's fault and were the result of WKU's "dead rush". Which is a term I am not familiar with in this context.

I assume it means that WKU couldn't put pressure on the qb, so they sat back and jumped up trying to swat down passes.

I'm guessing most of our future opponents will try harder to get to the qb and do a lot less jumping up in the air. It didn't help WKU much. So I'm not worried about the tipped passes if Kiffin isn't worried.

I don't think Western Kentucky brought over 1,000 fans.

It was WKU. Our scout team could have beaten them. Cromton was so tickled (relieved?) that he went around winking at his team mates. Save your fawning for the SEC part of our schedule.
