First of all, I missed kickoff. My son had a Jr. Pro game that kicked off at 11 A.M. But I carried my headphones. I just want everyone to know that my eyes watered up during the Run Through the T. You see, I've been getting up on Saturday since I was in Jr. High and listening to the Pre-Game via the Vol Network. I stopped in about 2001 when it was clear to me that Kesling and the VN were nothing more than the Voice of the Fulmerites! I got up this morning though and tuned in to most all the pre-game coverage. Admittedly, I was irate that Flummo had taken something from my life that was so near and dear to my heart. All my emotions came to the forefront when the Vols ran through T today led my Kiffin. I'll just say I am glad I had sunglasses on at the Jr. Pro game.

Most of all, I am glad that Flummo was in attendance to witness this rout today. I would like to believe at some point that Flummo will admit that he wasn't getting the job done and admit that it was time for a fresh approach. I won't be holding my breath though.

WOW!!! 650 yards of total offense. We haven't run the ball like that in YEARS! Folks, it is apparent that we have ourselves a coaching staff and when they recruit the talent comparable to LSU, Florida, Bama, etc., this is going to be SOME fun to watch. Sure, I expect us to take some lumps along the way. I want to tender my enthusiasm somewhat, since this was WKU. But under Flummo we maybe win this game by 14-21 points. Instead, under Kiffin, we DOMINATED from start to finish.

I was very impressed with our blocking (both run and pass) and Cromptie looked like Joe Montana at times. They flashed a stat that we haven't scored this many points since 2000. I don't know when we last gained so many yards. But one thing is certain - this staff will find plenty of errors in our effort and work to correct them. I head Mike Stowell say that when we were up 35-0 that the coaches called the team together and told them to not lift off the gas! That, is impressive!

I especially enjoyed seeing the offense and defensive players interact on the sidelines. AND, I especially enjoyed the way that Albert Haynesworth threw the previous staff under the bus during his sideline interview. What a great statement. He really stuck it to Fulmer/Chavis when given the chance. And his boat was most impressive to boot.

34 first downs and we dominated them. It's a great day to be a Vol and I am so thankful that we slaughtered them.

On a side note, my dad (usually the mild-mannered type) called me at halftime and said "they should have fired Fulmer 5 years ago." He said he hasn't seen that kind of fire on The Hill in years. Overall, a great effort with room for improvement.

Our defense was MOST impressive. And the freshman were all they were cracked up to be. Their leading receive had 4 catches for 10 yards. Impressive!!!!

Go Vols!!!

In 2002 in D-1AA football. Sure they have moved up to the FBC division, but consider that they were a very accomplished program in D-1AA.

We dominated today. In all aspects of the game. We haven't done that to any school in a damn long time.

The difference is coaching. No doubt.

best thing for me from game was a kiffin halftime interview. not being pleased and should have 5 or 6 td's. kiffin is a killer. we have to have that in today's sec.

some observations of my own:

-I was very impressed with the O-line play today. They gave Crompy time to scan the field, opened huge holes that the RB's hit with speed and conviction, and looked much better than their lack of experience would lead you to believe they would.

-When was the last time 4 freshmen scored TD's in their opening game, if ever?

-Second string O scored and didn't just kill the clock to save the lead. Flummo would never have let that happen. We would have gone 3 & out with scrubs in the game. CLK wanted our guys to get as much game time experience as possible and didn't let up. I believe that is one of the maxims.

-Didn't see any injuries to speak of.

-No punts in the game. I have been tired of seeing Fulmer play the field goal & field position game.

-CLK didn't let up after halftime. How many games did we come out flat after halftime and go 3 & out to start the second half, killing any momentum we had built by then?

-Kiffin/Chaney allowed Nick Stephens the chance to air it out, not forcing him to handoff because they didn't trust his ability. This will boost his confidence also.

-No clapping/grimacing at all. Enjoyed the fact that Kiffin looks eager to improve even though we destroyed WKU. Isn't that what we are supposed to do against teams like that?

WHEW!!!!! Damn it feels good to be excited about Tennessee football again!

WKU never stopped us, we stopped ourselves. I would like to thank the Vols for not doing squat in the 1st and 3rd quarters, and saving 8 of 9 touchdowns for the end zone right in front of me (you suck, Hardesty, for that big run the other way).

Crompton gets too many batted at the line. Our 4th string RB is better than most teams 1st stringer. The substitution pattern used on offense was interesting, with the backs and WRs swapping EVERY down... at least 2, up to 5 swapping between snaps.

We didn't get great lanes on the line for many of those great runs. Our backs... just wow. The young receivers are awesome. Our D could be special, especially if our offense keeps them on the bench as much as they did today.

This was the most fun I've had at a game (or watching one) in YEARS!!! We will NOT do this to UCLA, but Kiff sent a message today. He will play every person he thinks can play. He will not let up. He will play to win even when the game is won.

Final thoughts: Kiffy treated the game like a scrimmage. He coached the last minute of the first half like he wanted more points. Poor Tauren... so close, yet so far twice. I wanted him to get that 9th TD, but he tripped over his own feet after an incredible run. I wanted him to get that 10th, but he couldn't carry those 3 defenders more than 10 yards.

GO VOLS!!! I AM PROUD TO BE A TENNESSEE VOLUNTEER!

Missed the Haynesworth interview where he threw Fulmer/Chavis under the bus... What'd he have to say?

All I know is this game was lacking FGs.

Yeah, all of that is fine and good but did we win time of possession? The kicking game? Field position?

Seriously, did you see how pissed Kiffin was even after we scored our first TD? He was all like --- ABOUT DAMN TIME!

All I know is this game was lacking FGs.

Also sorely missed in this game: Delay of game penalities after timeouts, illegal procedures in bushels, defensive safties playing soccer goal tender, clapping, and Lard pulling his trousers out of the crack of his ass.

After the game, I heard CLK saying that he wants the second string players to come into a game with the same intensity and aggressiveness as the first string - no letdown, keep it going, etc. Another refreshing change!!

Missed the Haynesworth interview where he threw Fulmer/Chavis under the bus... What'd he have to say?

She asked him to name 3 things that he was the most impressed with ala Kiffin and staff. He just named one, but it was very telling. Paraphrasing:

He said that he liked the fire and intensity. He said it was definitely a change walking up and down the UT sideline with the coaches coaching and getting in player's faces.
