One of the talk radio guys in Nashville just insists on calling Obama something like half-black or a quarter black or whatever it may be. Now I'm a conservative, and I don't like Obama's policies, but that's bullshit. I'm sure in the 60's he wouldn't have gotten to eat at the white counter, or drank from the white water fountain by claiming 'I'm half-white'. Regardless of who was pushing the segregation/desegregation/civil rights issues (I wasn't alive then but I would hazard there were plenty of Dems and Reps on both sides), you can't change the rules mid-game. If 'half-black' was considered black at that time, then 'half-black' counts as a black president now.

I've never really understood why white heratige is just thrown out the window in any mixed heratage individual. I know that's what people did and still do, but I've always thought that practice was itself based upon deep-seeded racial bias. Calling a mixed heratage individual 'black' while overlooking any white heritage is was not done for good reasons, and I see no reason why that cant be changed 'mid game'. Things change.

Maybe because the guy tries to use race to his advantage so often. He does play racial politics when it is to his advantage.
