View Full Version : A lot of talk about Stephens today

he had a much better day than Crompy, but did throw the two ints late which were mistakes. However, most every one thought he was the crisper of the two today by a long shot. Crompy threw three picks, telegraphing two of them. Guys, this dude cannot start. No way!

I like what I am hearing of the OL too, and if Cooper isn't careful, Austin Johnson may pass him at FB. Donald played at DE some today, and that may be a better fit for him actually.

I was thinking on the way home Mitch Browning might be the most valuable GA in college football. His Minnesota OLs were very good IMO. And to think our OL may not be moving like molasses in the winter time, but actually have some quickness, be able to cut block, get out on screen plays...things we haven't seen in a long time.

Look a hear, I don't know if Stephens can be successful or not, but I sure as hell know that Crompton is dumber than a clawhammer and will most likely cost Tennessee another loss to UCLA if he is the starting quarterback. It's time for the program to cut their losses with Ruff Tuff and go with Stephens/Lamaison/Teague out of the Wild BlueTickHound formation. Watch the sumbitch screw the pooch again tomorrow.
I hope they can get Donald on the field and let him play like he did at Huntingdon, just go find the damn ball son and knock shit outta whoever is holdin the damn thing.

The OL has lost a lot of the bad weight. hell, Shaw is running 1st team at RT, and he's down to 315, wants to be 305. He was 350 lbs last year

One thing is for sure, if Crompton can't take the pressure of a scrimmage and crumbles mentally when Stephens challenges him then he isn't mentally tough enough for a real game.

Making everything competitive between the players seems like a stroke of genius just because of who we had as our coach for so long. But it is really the only way to find out who can cut it and who can't without it costing you a game.
Better to find out in practice.

Hate to quote the enemy but Bear Bryant made practices hell so they could have their fun on game day.

Rocket,
Nothing wrong with recalling how the Barr did things, he was a master at almost every facet of coaching.
Also, I know this and it is a simple fact. I don't care if it's Stephens or Lamaison, the staff needs to establish a quarterback to start this season who will be back next year. No way a true freshman comes in and plays solid football behind an almost totally rebuilt offensive line in 2010.
If Ruff Tuff is not the starter, I wonder if there will be a total explosion by Dada and Mammy C????

EXACTLY. When's the last time we heard a peep outta the stage parents? Fuck both of them for being media attention whores, fuck them for doing whatever they did to JC's head. If they wanna be in the NFL so bad, they can call the Panthers' ticket office. Great seats remain for all the games, I'm sure.

Wouldn't that be great? :appl: I wonder if Dada C still thinks JC is one of the best players in nation as he stated last season.

Ah, the memories, they come like a rushing waterfall as Jon is about to embark on his final voyage as a Volunteer. I remember it like it was only yesterday, Dada C. made the statement during the recruiting of the Ruff Tuff Mountain Boy and I quote, "Jon will not be holding a clipboard for anybody!"

Oops, almost forgot this, as late as last year, and I think it was at Sanford Stadium in Athens, Georgia, Mammy C. and Dada C. got up and stormed out when Stephens was announced as the starting quarterback for UT, but not before Mammy C. got in a cuss fight with a real Tennessee fan. I believe someone on this board talked to a friend who was there and witnessed the entire grizzly episode.
