Anyone have any opinions if this guy can help out at DT.
He is said to be about 270, which is a little on the small side for a DT, but he may make up for it in quickness.

I think it's a good idea to try him there. Brown's knees are a mess, and it looks more and more like Walls isn't going to make it here. That basically leaves us with two good tackles in Williams and Hughes. They need at least two more guys to step up and get some snaps. We look pretty good at defensive end at this point with Walker, Martin, Bohannon, and Fowlkes. Sykes would probably stand a much better chance at getting playing time by switching to tackle.

Re: Whats the depth chart look like at DT?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dan Williams
Wes Brown (?)
Montori Hughes
Chase Nelson
Andre Mathis
Victor Thomas
Arthur Jeffrey (True Freshman).
I would start watching for someone like Rae Sykes to be moved inside. Monte will adapt the defense to fit the personnel, so I wouldn't rule out a 34 front just yet.

He could go one of two ways, he could be another Walter Fisher or he could be another Turk McBride, an end who moved inside and played extremely well. Sykes wasn't going anywhere at end anyway, what the hell. He was third team and UT already has two prep All-American defensive ends committed to sign next Feb.

I agree 100% with you, Grassy. With Wes' knees and Walls' still in purgatory, we are one injury to Williams or Hughes away from DefCon 3. Our defensive middle would have a huge target placed squarely on it.
I can't believe I just said that we are relying on a true freshman defensive tackle. I would like to gut punch Fulmer. Orgeron has them lined up in 2011 to roll in here like an assembly line, but Fulmer, Taco and the band of fisherman couldn't find one. I swear I am embarrased to admit that I actually bought into their "there just aren't enough good defensive lineman to get the numbers you need".
