A couple of quotes from the article that are great:

"Kiffin has initiated a movement towards discipline, accountability and expectations and though it is yet to be seen whether this approach will translate to success on the field, it stands in marked contrast to the previous coaching staff’s approach."

"Isn’t there some part of us that hates younger people who are more successful than we are? Their presence forces us to confront our own professional inadequacies so subconsciously we loathe them and cross our fingers for their failure as if that failure will vanquish us from the reality of our own inability to maximize our potential. Basically, maybe Kiffin’s awesomeness makes people like Finebaum feel bad about their own schluppishness"

Good article and I agree with a lot of it from a football outsider's POV.

From what I think might be the operative opposing coaches' view of the situation:
"though the jury is out on whether he will exceed or underachieve, the Vols are now an unknown quantity."
Unknown is the operative word. They don't know how they're going to have to modify their style of recruiting to compete with the new kids on the block and this is an assortment of new kids that was beyond their comprehension.
The HCs are (I'm ascribing some greed to them, because I think most folks are greedy) looking at the salary structure and not real happy about how it will affect their staff every payday.

And there are a bunch of coaches (insert Dean Wormer fat, ...and happy quote) who look at this group and see that the portly still have success in the pros as coaches, but the college ranks are growing less portly, especially with the visibility that this group has and the praised youthfulness of them by visiting prospects.

That article deals with opposing fans and not with the traitors associated with UT - the University of Fulmer fans..

Very good read. I suspect the main reason is that Kiffin is at Tennessee, and some schools and their fans may feel threatened that the sleeping giant might awake again.

And I think the success at a young age thing has some validity to it as well.
