not even close to the all time gags.

Van de Velde for starters, then we move on to Langher in the War by the Shore; Norman at 96 Masters; Mickelson at 06 US Open; Scott Hoch, 89 Masters....Watson doesn't even make the Top 25 with today.

No what youre talking about is different. I'm talking about one shot to win a tournament, not a sequence of event. One little 9 footer to win the frickin open at age 59 and he gags like nothing I have ever seen and the putt never had a chance. Has to be the worst putt of all time in those circumstances. I dont know what would be worse.

Langher's putt gave the US the Ryder Cup. Even worse.

And Hoch's putt would have won the Masters...from 2 feet.

I would describe Watson's putt yesterday as the golf equivalent of an airball. Except even pros don't make 75-80% of 9 foot putts. It wasn't THAT he missed it, it was HOW he missed it.

thats what i'm saying, the fucker didnt even come close. he didnt burn the edge, he didnt hit it thru the break, he just gagged.

Put into historical significance that may have been the biggest putt in the history of golf. A man that age has never came that close to winning perhaps the most prestigious Major in Golf, and prob never will again, and to hit it like that is just unreal.

I agree, it would have come across better if he'd knocked it 2 feet past the hole, gotten an edgie or rimmed out. I think he was psychological toast once he saw his approach ran off the green. One of the great chippers of all times, he uses his putter on the 3rd shot and I yelled "HIT A HOUSE" the moment he struck it as I could tell he'd crushed it. Such a shame.

Still, that's not as bad as missing a 2 footer for the Masters.

It could be debated all day but it is worse when youre 59 years old and about to make history.

I have no idea why he didnt chip the ball. He creamed that first putt like it was an 80 footer.
