John Wall says Memphis is his leader now. He is the #1 player in the country for the 2009 class. Memphis already has commitments from D Cousins #2, and #3 Xavier Henry. Not to mention the #11 player, and two 4 star jucos. That is a SICK class. How is he doing this? Memphis is a good team, but come on - The top 3 players? Fedex internship that much of a help?

want to go a glorified high school in a minor league conference in the cesspool of the country(outside of Florida)

FedEx got caught a few years ago offering a recruit in Seattle I believe, mother a job promotion to move to Memphis with her son.

How in the world anyone could be a Memphis fan is beyond me.

Geeez Indian where you been? Memphis BBall players get a FedEX "Internship" that pays about 25K a year. And that's the amount you see "Above the table".

You get to play a sackocrap schedule that amounts to about 25 scrimages with 5 or 6 real games sprinkled in which ensures a trip to "The Big Dance".

You get to be on the smae team with 4 or 5 other NBA bound players to take up your slack if you decide "You aint into it" that night.

Throw in the fact that Memphis has hot and cold runnin Hos all over the campus and surrounding area and you have an incredibly easy recruiting job.

Oh yeah did I mentionyou can pretty much beat the hell outa people, steal, rob etc and still get back on the team?

Course if you do those things and you are the guy he needs to leave to open up a scholly for the next "One and Done" you could be in deep shit.

TREX got it right, but he did leave off one point that most don't even consider and that is the arena that they play in. The FedEx Forum. Not many better places to play in than that palace with the NBA style locker room.

Calipari's connection with ESPN doesn't hurt either.

They just played for a national championship. That goes a long way in getting exposure.

Tiger High, under Cal, has put several playters into the NBA.

We have 2 players who have done anything to get noteriety in the NBA - Bernard King and Allan Houston.

Dale Ellis did not get the publicity his play deserved. Playing in Seattle during the prime of his career did not help, but he was a tremendous player.

As far as the tiggers go....

National Championship game
Fed Ex internship
3 Elite 8's
#1 draft pick in last year's draft(multiple players drafted)
Coach with NBA experience
NBA arena

I am not saying we're better, but come on.... Memphis is the only program in the country that can get players to the NBA? The #1,2,3 players in the country? It's not like these guys are FROM Memphis either.

As far as FedEx goes do you think they would risk there reputation illegally paying Memphis basketball players. OH the one about the promotion for the kids mom is BS. A Fedex Exec who is a booster called her and talked to her about her kid. The school self reported it.

If you were a kid in high school and you saw Memphis who has been a top team since your freshman year where would you go. If they start losing ,kids won't go there. If Cal is smart he will never leave Memphis. Automatic NCAA trip everyear 5 tough games a year. Can't beat it.

Also let's not be hipocrites we applaud CLK for doing some of the same things Cal does. They live in the grey area. I guarantee you dealing with AAU coaches ain't much better than being a garbage man.
