What a hokey logo

What was the USGA thinking when they designed the logo for this year's US Open? Isn't this a major championship? The Masters would NEVER butcher something this badly.

Agreed... I'm guessing that the same designer is also responsible for those ugly ass painter style hats that every other player is sporting this weekend... Ugliest sumabitchin' hats I've ever seen...
