DeVoe didn’t deserve to be replaced when he was. Doug Dickey told him Tennessee was going to move in a different direction. It did. Down. Wade Houston’s valid claim to fame was being Allan Houston’s father. Tennessee’s five-year SEC record was 27-57.
Wow. Didn't know that.

disagree with him about DeVoe. He went to the NCAA his first 5 years but then went 5 years in a row without a trip. His last team(with 5 seniors) went and lost to West Virginia by 20. Sure in retrospect Houston was a bad choice but I don't know that we would have done any better than DeVoe.
Plus DeVoe, a notoriously bad recruiter, told Dickey he needed a new arena to recruit. After 2 years in the new arena recruiting was as bad as ever under DeVoel He was a lot like Fulmer, the game passed him by with the ESPNification of college BB and the advent of the shot clock.
