I mean, I understand that this was a game that didn't mean the world (although I'll bet it cost us a seeding or two)....
But don't you think that our vols would have been exciting to come home and show us the new, improved team. Where in the HELL is the leadership on this team? We just slept walked through a game on national tv and looked like absolute losers, letting bammer stick it to us.
Where is our fucking pride?

Left the pride at the foul line today.

Forget all that. We missed 10 FTs in the second half. Hit even half of those, we win. Overall offensively we did not play that well, but we played well enough to win this game, but you can't hit less than 50% on FTs and win many games.
Let's see if we can use this silly loss as motivation. May have hurt our seeding in the NCAAT...but we may be playing Bama again soon - like in the first round of the SECT.

we should have been able to miss ALL our free throws and beat that team. We mailed it in today - on a day that could have been a celebration of our season and finally finding a way to play an entire game with our heads out of our asses.
I can only hope that this might be a wakeup call for the tourneys or I see us getting knocked out in the first round of both, as we will certainly take those teams for granted as well.....

No, I understand what you're saying. We didn't play with a lot of focus today. Well, let's hope that Pearl gets them motivated to do something in the SECT, we are woefully bad in that tournament. Maybe a change of venue is a good thing.

Other than FT's, we didn't play badly. Especially, the 2nd half. Our defense was good. Bama was on today themselves and they played a good game. I would have liked to go to OT for a chance to win. But the hail mary wouldn't allow it.

That game was like how UT has played in the SECT for past oh what 29 years?

One of the most amazing records of futility in any sport. This will be the 31st tourney since it was begun in 79 and we have played well exactly twice, 79 when we won and 91 when we got to the finals.
1 championship in 30 tourneys
1 other Finals appearance
1 trip to the semis since we went to 12 teams in 92.

Spot-on. As I watched the game, I kept wondering where I'd seen this type of performance before.
After the South Carolina game, I suggested that perhaps this team was ready to explode. That, perhaps, this would be the year we'd make thunderous noise in both the SEC and NCAA Tourneys.
Perhaps not.
Every March no matter the team we have, I am a glass half-full guy. And every March, I've been disappointed. That said, I'll enter the SEC Tourney with the same hope I bring to every baseball season with my White Sox....
Of course, we've won one World Series in the last 326 years. Not that I'm trying to suggest there's symmetry between the way the Vols and White Sox tend to sleepwalk in the post-season....

Might be a blessing in disguise going into the tourney. This team seems to play better after losing. That would have been 4 wins in a row, setting us up for 1 and done in Tampa. I think our longest streak since preseason is 3 wins. It would have had to be 7 in order to win the SECT. Now, it will only need to be three. This isn't a consistent bunch, for sure.

The good news is that our next game is probably going to be against this same Alabama team. We played like absolute shit and they played above their heads for much of the game. They are the worst 3-pt shooting team in the conference and they were cashing in 3's the entire damn game like it was nothing. There is no excuse for us shooting 45% from the FT line, sleep walking through the game or not. I think we'll be plenty fired up for them on Friday.
