I see the death threat thing as being a running theme for the tv people this year. Every time a new crew does on of our games their gonna bring it up so they can tell us what ridiculous thing it is.

If he kept it quiet all last year....what's the point of bringing it up NOW, as we try to walk out of the WASTELAND that has been TENNESSEE FOOTBALL.

As we try to land a Top QB Prospect....NICE. I will Never Pull for this twit....NEVER.

Jon Crompton has risen above all the stupidity and hatred of the UT fan base. When he leads us to the promise land this year, he should be praised and worshipped for all the obstacles he overcame during his career.

Can you imagine playing football and wondering if some sniper is gonna pick you off (no pun intended) from the north corner of the end zone? Can you imagine the fear of running onto the field and wondering if the tuba player has a sickle waiting to lop off your head?

The strength and courage Crompton has shown is just unreal and its a miracle he has persevered thru all these bad times.

Now its time for the good times, and he's gonna be DYNO-MITE!

Anyone who thnk JC will bring us back is farked up-
All former schemes and coaching shit aside-he always had the deer in the headlight look in his eyes. Nothing is gong to change this year. Get used to it and focus on the the task at hand this year-without his involvement.

No Matter how he sucks as a QB. He should be in our Hall of Fame for helping get FatAss fired!

What a relief going into the fall without those "Puckered Lips" and fatass with a straw hat on making excuses. Remember the past 12 years how he would start in the summer about "Lots Of Youth" and "Injuries" bullshit.

Dang I am glad he is gone.

Crompton didn't bring it up.

Dave Hooker said on his radio show Monday that he asked Crompton about the death threats and it was only then that he confirmed them. He also said he had to talk Crompton into allowing him to publish the death threat story.

I will say this, if somebody threatened to kill me, I wouldn't feel obligated to keep it a secret.

Hopefully any snipers taking aim at him will have JC-like accuracy. That would be more bad news for the worms and cheerleaders.

I'm with Hawk... I mean, you either tell when it happens, or you never say anything at all. I think this whole shitpile stinks!

There is a big difference between a letter saying 'YOU SUCK I HOPE YOU DIE!' and 'I've spent the last 5 days outside you're house, I know you drive a bla bla bla car and I've planned to kill you in xxxxx way'

So which kind of threat did he get? Is it a bullshit overblown kind? or is it a serious crazy looney kind?

Also, coincidence that its right amidst our trying to sign a freaking QB to take his position for godssake? I might be cynical, but I aint buyin this shit until I read the types of letters he got! This is hurting UT in every way, just like his playmaking ability.

Granted, no one should receive death threats for a college sport; however, it doesnt surprise me given the publicity of his position.

You hope UT wins despite him this year. Huh, I wonder what that means? Just because this guy hasnt had the best career yet doesnt mean he hasnt tried. Its not like he WANTED to suck. Jesus, you people HATE this guy, and for what? Because he's been, so far, a subpar quarterback?

No wonder the Devil is winning the eternal battle.

It means that they can win despite his subpar/pathetic efforts. If this guy throws more than 8 passes a game UT is almost guaranteed a loss. Hell, when he throws over 8 passes UT has only won 1 game. No, I don't hate him....don't know him but I do hate to watch him play. Well, maybe not hate to watch him play because in the Auburn game his play was nearly comedic.

As far as I can tell these threats are anonymous so who says it was a TN fan dealing out the damn threats? Hell, if anyone wanted to see the WWB, savior of TN football, killed it would be a rival fan! At the very least it would be an attempt to make our fans look like rapacious rednecks. The whole thing just seems dumb as shit, if you feel your life if seriously threatened, call the fooking cops... not Dave Hooker.

He didn't call Hooker and Hook asked him about it, not the other way around. How do you know he didn't call the cops? Pretty easy to be critical when you aren't the one being threatened.

If the word "subpar" is ever applied to JC then it will mean that he has achieved a miraculous improvement over his formerly beyond-horrible performance. Subpar is a goal he can only dream of achieving. Not even infinitesimal odds could convince me to bet on him achieving the title of "subpar". I would far rather see Leggo himself out there with both eyes plucked out and his Carradines lopped off trying to play QB than see JC take the field. UT fans ought to demand that the school offer partial refunds in the event that JC plays at all, in any position with the proviso that full refunds will be offered if he plays QB.

He is bringing it up now to get attention. The stupid, redneck hick Cromptons are attention whores, and since they can't make it on little Jonny's fooball ability, they resort to other attention-getters. I will be so glad when JC is outta here. :nana:

Even if Hooker approached him I would hope he would have enough sense to keep quiet about the whole deal. What good can possibly come of it from his or the school's perspective?

IMO, they are beating this drum trying to get some support for JC. JC isn't the first football player that has gotten deaththreats due to poor play. Hell, I would wager he isn't the first at UT. Why else bring this bullshit out and then string it along? Sympathy..plain and simple. Who believes that he really feared for his life? If he did he should have called the police to investigate. I know he can't read a defense but he would have enough sense to do that. As for the rest of it....hell, prank calls and having people berate you due to poor play is what you get for poor play.

It is easy for me and you to brush off a death threat made to somebody else. And how do you know he didn't call the cops, I suspect he did. Anybody that would call or email a player to berate him about poor play is a fucking world class loser.

I think Crompton is a horrible QB, but I don't hate him for it, that is ignorant.

Seriously man, it said the loon e-mailed it to him. How threatening can an e-mail get? Some drunk idiot gets online and e-mails a threat to a QB.....do you think he or she would be quite easy to track down way before they sober up much less carry out their nefarious plan? Let me see if I got this right, Threatening to kill somebody as long as it is done via email is perfectly acceptable, because as we all know, drunk loons have never hurt anybody. :rotfl: My guess is, if you are the person receiving the threat it is more mountain than molehill.
