We love chess pie. Serious, deep down lustfilled love.
To the extent that I've never been tempted to stray to the chocolate version. I could be convinced to try a great recipe, but .....

I've had chocolate, it aint no big deal.
Lemon and coconut variants are pretty good.
If you're ever in Huntsville AL go to Gibson's BBQ on the Parkway just south of the mall on the service road. They make all their own deserts and Chess pie and Coconut Pie are beyond belief.
I gave directions because everybody in the Gibson family has their own BBQ joint in Huntsville/Decatur. And by all means, stay away from Big Bob Gibson's in Decatur, thats the guy that is always winning Memphis in May and shit. Wish they'd teach somebody in the kitchen how to cook.

My mother-in-law lives in Huntsville and fairly close to that Gibsons so I've been there a few times. Decent place - not the greatest, but good by BBQ standards.

Its the best in Huntsville since Floyd's closed. The all round menu at Gibson's is fantastic.
The Smokehouse in Priceville has the best bbq in north alabama. Its right on I-65 a few miles south of Decatur.
