That's a progression Gheng? Hee Hee.

Seriously, I never drank a drop before I turned 21. After I did, I went straight to:

21: Bud
22: Heineken
23: Sam Adams
24 - now: Stella Artois (draft), Tsingtao, and the occasional Corona

The first beer I ever drank was Old Milwaukee...I've had maybe 3 since.....in the 60's it was Schlitz, Falstaff and Yes that great Busch of yester-year....in the 70's it was BudW...and also Miller.....Ghenghis....do you remember the Miller Pony's??....I woke up in a ditch one morning after drinking those Pony's all one night.... In the middle 70's eveyone wanted Coors because you couldnt buy it in these parts, never was a big fan...

Today I drink different brands... I like Warsteiner and Negra Modelo and mostly I drink Yuengling.

The worst beer I ever drank was gooood...

They still make Miller Lite ponys.

I forgot to mention my brief dalliance with Country Club Malt Liquor in those little 8oz cans. Oh yeah, and one year I got heavy into Hudepol (sp?) but it was made from grain alcohol and almost burned my inerds out. Never tried Yuengling.

Yuengling is good. The chinese make great beer. I find them to be very food friendly across the board. The Canadians and the French make the worst beer in the world.

Germans make the best beer in this galaxy. Not even a close 2nd.

You know gheng, my dad travels all over the world and until a few years ago swore the same thing, but since his travels to China and to the Czech Republic he says he finds the German stuff 2nd rate. I am well traveled, but not anything like he is....so I just have to take his word for it based on his experience. His rationale for the German thing is that it's not like it used to be over there. He says when he first started going there back in the 80s every little burg had their own beer, but now it's mostly corporate conglomeration. I am a staunch libertarian, but I gotta tell you I have to believe that corporate food is going to kill us all, but that's another topic for another thread :(

Anyway, he's probably going back over there before the end of the summer so I'll give you an update when he does and hopefully some new things to try.

Ahhhhh Rolling Rock.....my first ever beer. I went to so many damned dollar Rock nights on the strip it's not even funny. Can't be a UT man and not like the rock. Sure it tastes like piss, but after the 2nd one, it doesn't matter.

TIG.....there's a liquor store (Vik's I think) over on Wickham in Suntree that's not half bad by Brevard County standards. The ABC in Indian Harbour Beach used to be okay, but I haven't been there in years.

I'm not kidding you Gheng. I trust him on this one. Man has not only been everywhere on the planet, but I'm telling you, he swears the Chinese can drink ANYBODY under a table. In fact, he swears it's part of business "negotiations". Now daddy is a UT man...his stories of drinking are legendary. However, the chinese are bastards and try to get their "idiot" American counterparts to sign on the dotted line under the influence. They still can't believe this American that can handle the szechuan hot pot and drink them under the table. He has earned their respect....which is not easy to come by.

Yeah, I know all about their little games. I spent a lot of time in Japan, Hong Kong, Korea and Singapore. The Koreans IMO are the most devilish negotiators on the planet. They can outparty a Jap/Chink any day of the week. Evil bastards.

Dont like Chinese beer. Just cause Chinks can drink doesnt mean they know how to make beer. And nobody can outdrink the Scots. I tried, was laid to waste many a time.

The Scots are legendary. The Poles are pretty good as well. As for the long duck dongs.....daddy says they drink a shit load of PBR. Says it's fookin awesome. Perhaps you're right and all those hot pots have dulled his palate :)

Good God I've gone through so many I can't even list a progression.

Canadians make very good beer. German beer is overrated. Mass-market American beers are generic. The best quality beers are the craft beers made in the US right now. Right now Leinenkugels (http://www.leinies.com) is my beer of choice.

And Mexican beer? It's amazing they can market piss in a bottle by putting a lime into it and stupid American fucks buy it.

Year one: http://blogwaybaby.com/Baby%20Drinking%20Beer.jpg

About 19-20: Bud Light ("UHHH, This tastes like horse piss")
21: Coors Light ("UHHH, This tastes like horse piss")
22: Miller Light ("UHHH, This tastes like horse piss")
23: Modelo Especial; Warsteiner ("Hey this shit is pretty damn good)
25: Sweetwater 420; Smithwicks; Stella ("Man, doesn't this go good with BBQ, pizza, hamburgers, etc.")
26+ Year round beer tasting parties ("As long is some asshole isn't bringing Bud Light, I'll be there.")

I have to say that Staropramen (http://www.staropramen.com/english/index.html) may be one of the best (if not the best) beer I've had. New Belgium's Fat Tire is good, but I love their 1554. If it is not brewed on a smaller scale (i.e. Sweetwater, New Belgium, etc.) in the states, I don't want it unless you are offering...well are you?

Staropromen is a great beer.....as is Smithwicks. You have delightful taste for someone with the misfortune of living in Birmingham :nana:

I've had the opportunity to go to England a couple of times and I gotta tell you, the English know a good beer. That stuff is even good warm.

G....Yuengling is made in the good ole USA.....its the oldest brewery in American, started in 1829 in Pottsville PA.....They have several beers to choose from and its very good...give it a try....

Until I got out of college and started making some decent money my favorite beer was whatever was on sale. There were only two beers I refused to drink: Miller Lite and Old German. My dad would buy Old German because he could count on the fact that my buddies and I wouldn't come home from college and drink it all up. I haven't seen it in years; I assume the CIA bought up the world supply and is using it to torture prisoners at Gitmo. At least they don't make the terrorists drink Miller Lite. That would be going too far.

Germans make the best beer in this galaxy. Not even a close 2nd.

Belgians. By far; those monks are truly a great treasure of this world.

Among others: Blue Chimay. But, you have to make sure it isn't skunked.
It's not really skunked over here, just it's often slightly deteriorated.
It's gone slightly south- and it's very hard
to tell unless you have a good one to taste right beside it.
This of course can happen within the same 4/6-pack.
Best to buy the tall fifth-sized bottle with the cork.

Chimay Azule: better than rosy red lips, and taught breasts all-a-quiver,
dancing in a school-girl mini-skirt and knee-highs stockings under the pale moonlight. Still, then amidst breeze-blown lace curtains, her sultry dance brings her back and forth, bringing honey and fruits...
Perhaps I got carried away...
But, Chimay, that's how good that is.

Dominion used to be better before Anheuser Busch bought them out. When we lived in Ashburn we used to stop at the brewpub and get a Growler full of the best current brew. The Root Beer is still pretty good.

Damned impressive. Whats Kellerweis, I'm a huge Weissbier fan.

Home brew is som of the best beer I've ever had.....not mine, I dont have the patience but I had some friends in NC that made the best beer I've ever tasted. They even made porter taste good.

You get an extra gold star for your Beamish trial. Only hard core Irish drink that shit.

Sierra Nevada Kellerweis

http://www.slashfood.com/2009/03/09/sierra-nevada-announces-kellerweis-hefeweizen/

http://www.sierranevada.com/beers/kellerweis.html

According to SN's TN sales manager it ships to Nashville on 6/1 so I assume it'll hit other East coast cities within a month or so of that.

None of the nitro-can draught stouts are great. Actually my favorite was one I had on tap called Gillespies in a little pub in Inverness, Scotland. I was drinking it like water.

GhenghisVol

So who is going to be stocking Kellerweis in Nashville? I'll be back in the area by then.

The chick I was dating was doing the study abroad thing in London, so I went over for a couple of weeks in summer of '96...spent a few days in London then hopped around Scotland.

The best place to check for any beer in Nashville is, IMO, Frugal MacDoogals http://www.frugalmacdoogal.com/. Although I hope it'll be at my local grocery store. The Sierra Nevada guy said it'll ship on 6/1 (from Chico, CA) and should show up on the shelves a week or so later.

Beer - picking a nation - mine would be Belgium - vs the Germans. Belgium has better food.
