Talking with a guy who is an alleged sex offender,
to put on the orange and white...
how in the world did UT get a group that would even consider
a recruiting policy that would allow that kind of track record to be within a signature of the A.D.'s office, much less put on a school uniform.
Looks like Marlon Brown was right about this bunch.
Surely somebody can stand up for the right up there on the Hill.
Obviously Hamilton will not, if he had the meeting to discuss allowing
this kind of guy to sign.
Notice what happens after these guys get through lowering Phillip Fulmer and staff's class ranking from # 2/3 to # 20,
then get zapped by a 3-star DT/OT,
and two running backs, one of whom has a street agent reportedly
being investigated by the NCAA (and our staff has negotiated with that
street agent, obviously, for the player to be talking up UT) who are both
goihg to zip UT---
yep...that's right...
these guys start recruiting people that class schools and staffs already have decided are the type that their program will suffer, from signing.
Not OUR staff. Nope. WEEEEEEE are right there, bottom fishing.
I thought this staff could recruit with the best of them? Tell that to Mark Richt, who got the bit OL/DL they missed. Tell that to Urban Meyer, who got everybody he wanted from them, except one guy. Tell that to __________
(fill in the blank on the coaches who signed the players who got away.)
Maybe the staff could be there running at 5:30 am.
The morning air might wake them up to what they are doing to the UT Brand name.:img59:

And it appears the reason that Bryson Brown hooked up with Butler, is because Brown's father saw Butler as "sent by God to assist us" with his two son's football careers.
In other words, smith, you are attacking a group of true believer christians, people you usually blindly defend.
What's up with that? Fulmer more important to you than God?:nono:

Respert was set up,
on a recruiting trip,
by some Florida players,
and the testimony in the courtroom bears that out.
He had had a few beers and was zonked out on a sofa downstairs,
came to, and lurched along to find a bedroom door open
and hopped into bed. Whether he was invited or not is open
to interpretation.
You may want to read the difference between the two scenarios.
It is the difference, according to court testimony posted elsewhere, earlier,
between daylight and midnight.
I am not saying at all that people do not change; nor am I saying people do not deserve second chances. But this obviously was a major league deal, or several other schools would have already signed the athlete---or Phillip Fulmer's group would have signed him.
I can spell; I can read; I know about Jason Respert.
If what is printed about the two trial scenarios is accurate---including supposed transcripts---there is no similarity except breathing.

I agree we shouldn't take Daniel Hood, but the rest of your post is crazy. Kiffin's class will be much better than Fulmer's supposedly highly ranked class. Most of the highly ranked players in recent years were busts, due to reasons beyond football skills.
Why do you continue to post about Fulmer? He is gone never to return.:nana:

I thought that thanks to Trooper Taylor we had nothing but thug recruits while Fulmer was here. smith never has and never will explain why Fulmer allowed all those thugs to sign but the fact remains that - according to smith - that's all we got over the course of several years. So why the sudden alarm over one more? OK, smith doesn't say that's ALL we got but since TT was the guy who brought in a large number of recruits it's fair to say that we must have gotten a large number of these undesirables. Yet somehow Fulmer was blameless in this. My question is this: can't we blame TT for this latest outrage? I know he's not at UT anymore but come on - isn't that just a minor detail? After all, smith has already established that the head coach is magically blameless when bad or dumb things happen such as the recruiting of inferior players. And since TT has already been established as the worst person in the college football coaching world then I say let's blame him for this one, too. In the world of smithian logic, it's only logical.

Your behavior on this topic certainly is very un-Christian Smith. What would you have happen to this young man who was 13 at the time of the event, would you send him to work in the salt mines of Siberia for his remaining days. I see now that you have no Christian compassion or love in your heart, rather you are have judged, even though the Book says Judge not least ye be judged.
Oh, and by the way, we got two, not one, from CUM, shall we count, Richardson and Teague, they were going to be roomies at Florida but now they will be roomies in Knoxville.
Of course we could nominate you for No. 1 Fulmer Felcher of all-time and at least you would get some recognition for you endless drivel.:nana:

Unless he had a three-star commit give a verbal the first day of recruiting, before anyone committed to anyone.
Too bad Fulmer wasn't as obsessed with winning games as he was having a good Rivals ranking.

"Character" very, very, very few programs in college football can spend a lot of time focusing on "character". P. Fulmer tried, as have many, and come up on the wrong end of the deal - al la a kid outta Dallas Carter HS (FWIW DADIO's old stompin' ground back in the day whe he was a gridiron legend)
Kiffin, as did Fulmer & Majors will sign the BPA's (best players available) - and will sign kids with an issue or two relating to their character. If Kiffin, et al somehow build an open dialogue relationship with the HS coaches - an open honest dialogue - they'll be okay..
Again - Tennessee has, under Fulmer & Majors - taken risks - Kiffin should do the same thing..

behavior on this board. Being nothing but antagonistic is not a "christian" trait. In fact, Christ ate with those who were considered outcasts in His days on Earth. What are you doing with those you consider outcasts?:nono:

Bakes, I was trying to explain that to Wagee12; but it did no good.
Here is the substance of that discussion. Warner had explained that he thought I was judging, which he said was certainly un-Christian. Obviously, believers have to confront evil when they see it.
And since I have done the best I can with some of these doofuses, my hands are free of any condemnation, as I explained to Warner... I am certain he will not mind that I quoted him, here. As you can see from the bottom commentary he made to my reply, he may be a deacon somewhere---or atleast an acolyte---and it was a priviledge to work with him in his quest for Spiritual enrichment. Obviously onthis site he has to keep much of that under wraps, since so many of these folks are
pre-Christians (translate that as hardened sinners)---but, then, look at The Apostle Paul, as well as so many others who were saved from a wretched life of sin, debauchery and perdition, as these pre-Christians on this site wil be.
WAgee12 said that people who judged are un-Christian, and I was instructing him in the more important points about
Jesus's words about judging.

1. He in fact told Christians to judge---by the standards of righteousness.
a. If you will read Deuteronomy, you will see the
standards of righteousness.
b. Those are the standards by which we are to
judge people. Obviously they are very strict---
and very harsh. If everyone knew them, they
would fall on their face and accept Him as
Savior and Lord, immediately; since He is the
substitionary atonement for the sins that will
fall under that judgement of Deuteronomy.
Remember reading about Colonial preachers
Cotton and Increase Mather---well they were
great evangelists, because they read what the
Scriptures said in Deuteronomy, then read what
Scriptures said happens in Hell, and offered the
way of Salvation to those who were by the end
of their sermons found to be crying, moaning and
wailing as these two preachers---from the best colleges in America, no less--- read the sermons.
2. Jesus said to judge, but said you will be judged by the same standards by which you judge. He said to judge---so that you do not do what he forbids in Scripture. He did NOT say to avoid judging; in fact, how in the world would you avoid the sins you see if you did not judge them to be wrong. No way to avoid the tempter and the temptation if you do what the politically correct dogma of not judging---which is where it came from. In fact Jesus and the Apostles
all said the way to Hell is paved by people who refuse to call "sin" what it is: "SIN."
Speaking of that---do you know, now, why I do not curse or post lewd pictures on that site? I assure you that it is not because I am saintly, or think I am better than those people. I am just like them, except for the Grace of Christ, the Lord.
I cannot make any of the above statements without having good judgement. Same works for those who write columns about recruiting, football and the like.
One more thing, Warner: take a moral stance that is grounded in Scripture rather than in permissiveness or imorality, on that board. See what happens to you, bud.
Finally, please allow me to make the point that there is none righteous, no not one, says Scripture, so all need Christ as Savior. All, Warner.
Great theologians have pointed out for almost the entire two millenia since the Resurection, that those who accept the Grace of Christ, and become Christians will not be with many people about whom they care deeply, in the afterlife. Thus we need to:
a. Accept Christ as Savior and Lord, and read Scripture and fellowship with other believers, or we will soon be overcome by Evil. None can stand alone against those wiles, for extended periods.
b. Pray regularly for those whom we love, who are not believers; a fate worse than can be imagined awaits them, says Scripture---and realize that the ONLY difference between us and them is not merit on our part, but Christ's part.
So...maybe you will understand what I meant, now. I believe it is Scripturally accurate.
THANK YOU BROTHER SMITH, YOUR KNOWLEDGE OF THE SCRIPTURES IS QUITE IMPRESSIVE

How many Vol football players have been arrested since CLK took charge? I think the improvement in this area alone earns him a little "equity" in this department. Maybe the staff can instill the discipline some of these young men need at this point in their lives. Remember, most of these top players are superstars in their high school communitities & can get away with much more than they should. Maybe CLK will keep them in line @ UT. He has done pretty well in that area so far.

Not to be antagonitic Smith. But how does one go about accepting Christ as there personal lord and Savior.
Actually Smith what you are doing to this kid is condemning him not judging him. His actions have already been judged and he has reaped what he has sown. What if over the last 5 yrs he has seen the error of his ways and is a professing christian? Didn't Moses murder someone? I think it was David who committed adultery then basically murdered the woman's husband. Wasn't it Saul who held the coats of the men who stoned Stephen? So he was an accessory to murder. And more than likely he was the one who had Stephen along with many other christains murdered.
I think it was Jesus who said he who is without sin cast the first stone.I would be willing to bet you Jesus' harshest words were to the Pharisees not prostitute.

Even the victim's family has come forward ( it was HIS COUSIN) and said..HE DESERVES a second chance...This happened when he was 13..It was A STUPID AND COSTLY MOVE ON HIS PART...It has scarred many people involved...But the kid from what I read has KEPT HIS NOSE CLEAN...Has like a 27 on his ACT...and has been a model student.....He has PAID HIS DEBT to SOCIETY...If he had done this TWICE I would say SCREW HIM...But he has kept a clean record, makes good grades and hasn't broken any laws I can think of...It is up to Mike Hamilton and the higher ups if he plays...Anybody remember Willie "The Predator" Williams the LB from Miami Carol City who played with Kenny Phillips..he was arrested 13 times before 11th grade If I can remember but that didn't stop Miami and Auburn from offering him a scholly...He is a REAL SCREW UP ...Hear he is playing NAIA ball in Kentucky these days...
