Wel I just got back last night. Played Henry Horton on Friday and Tim's Ford on Sat and Sunday morning.
Had played HH before but it had been years. Some of those greens are a full Lob Wedge from front to back. Course was in decent shape the greens were slow. Putts of 60 feet are not uncommon and I saw at least on 90 footer while there of one of the other guys. Hard to guage pin depth on some of those uphill and over bunker shots. The weather was awesome on Friday never got above mid 70's.
Tims Ford was in better shape and the speed of the greens was about right. The Bear loves some traps and we were all in em. First Tee I pulled my drive and it like maybe 2 feet clearing the bunker lip. Lip was so steep I coudnt hit at the pin. Hardly any water on the course but there is plenty of "Gorse" or tall grass and the holes that line the lake drop off severly into the woods lining the lake. DOnt play the back tees unless you can bomb it. I didnt find any of the par 3's that picturesque but they were all challenging.
My best swing of the weekend was a gap wedge to the green. I havent hit a ball that well since I started back. Had one monster drive that cut a corner on a dogleg and made it through the trees and left myself maybe 30 yards. Still only made par,
Had fun but am sore as hell as I had play 27 holes all year before this.
