A fairly well known Knoxville furniture store has spent many $$$ advertising that they are closing their store.
Mr. Turf and I have been there twice in the past year, watching the prices on two leather sofas. We haven't bought either time, because we thought, given the construction of the sofas, that $3800 was too much for either.

So the big sale signs are up.

You guessed it.

The sofa has a "Sold" sign on it. But the sale tag that we had grown to love has disappeared, and was replaced by a tag that said $8400. To that was appended a "Half off" and the new price $4200. The salesman on the floor pointed out to my husband that there was an additional 10% off.

Which takes their special sale price to very close to what it was before this nonsense started.

Just in case you wondered about the special markdowns.

My wife works in retail. I'll ask her if that practice happens in her store.

I assume you are talking about Braden's? Place has always been overpriced as shit anyway, go to Brown Squirrel or Knoxville Wholesale and get the same damn thing for 50% less.

I asked her and she said that the markdowns during special sales like the upcoming Memorial Day Sale in her store are real and not fakey crap like you saw Turf.

If that store is going out of business thy have no future customers to please so it's every man for himself.
