I don't waste any thought on the 2012 nonsense or any takeover by a NWO. However, I do think the govt. is aware of and has taken some steps to be prepared for insurrection from within the US if there is a breakdown of social order, for whatever reason. Depending on one's perspective I guess this could be viewed as either good or bad, or both. On the bad side, I'm troubled by the increasing interference by govt. in everyday life, especially regarding personal privacy and the shredding of the 4th amendment by the SCOTUS. Paramilitary local police units that are justified under the smokescreen of the war on drugs plus increasing US Army battalion deployment within the US is ample evidence to me that the govt. is prepared to crush any challenge to it's authority. On the other hand, just thinking about what a collapse in order would entail, revolution perhaps and all the death and destruction that can follow, makes me pause because it would mean a lot of hardship and misery. The possibility of the current economic crisis spiraling downward could trigger some unrest and I admit to being concerned.

Thats along the line of my thinking. Gov't trust is at its lowest right now, or will be at its lowest in a few months, and instead of getting the hell out of peoples lives, theyre making themselves more involved in it.

All points in history are important. And, generally speaking...the powers that be mostly blow it. Some just suck more than others, pretty much. About once every 100 years some in power who dont blow it. We are probably overdue, but I dont see any light at the end of the tunnel on that one.

I don't know about despots on a local level but this country has been handing over power (and thus political philosophy) peacefully for well over 200 years. Nobody who hate each other as much as Mitch McConnell and Teddy Kenedy do could ever be involved in any conspiracy to subdue the people. What is remarkable is that people who do differ in views so much can come together and partisipate in governing in an orderly manner.

I went to both the '99 and '00 Fiesta Bowls. For the last one we showed up a few days before New Years and in our room at a pretty nice resort hotel, there was a bucket with a flashlight and a letter inside. The letter, not being tongue-in-cheek at all, directed us that the bucket and flashlight were being provided for us in the event that modern society as we knew it broke down.
