I came across this website by accident. How in the world can they provide for free, movies online that are still in the theaters?

Here's an example: http://www.movie2k.com/movie-37483-The+Wrestler.html

Site also has pantload of tv shows other films etc.....

There was another website that hosted "currently-in-the-theatre" movies as well, but the name escapes me. Some were uploaded from I would assume a promo DVD, or simply from someone that took a video camera into the theatre with them. Remember the Seinfeld episode?

but I watched a few minutes of the Benjamin Button movie and it had a trailer at the bottom for a second that said for evaluation/voting only.....This is high quality stuff

Yep, you are watching a promo DVD meant solely for the Oscars voters.

How? They violate copyright laws.

Movie studios send out screener CDs, which then get ripped into a digital file (AVI, DivX, MP4, etc) by someone who receives it (or someone they forward it to), and then it gets up on the internet via a site based in a different country (that doesnt give a shit what US copyright laws say), or via multiple individual users using P2P (like bittorrent).

Never heard of Napster? Kazaa? Limewire? How long have you had internet access?

There are tons of these on the internet. The best are usually on foreign websites that don't care about US copyright laws. Some sites link you to a japanese youtube and you can just use google translator watch all kinds of good movies. Most are bootleg.
