Is this a good sign that this may not be as bad as we think it could? You would think they would be chomping to arrest whoever kicked the off duty cop. Or could it be that they are just being very careful due to the poplularity of UT football. It's hard to tell what to believe. It almost reminds me of a coaching search when theres so many different stories out there you don't know what to believe.

my guess would be, a lot of people to get their statements, a lot of facts to check, and a lot of due diligence going on but considering the severity of the injuries sustained, this one is FAR from over.

Nibs is correct. They are building a case. They want to get conviction(s) in this one, so they are being methodical. And it's not the cops, persay, as much as it is the District Attorney's Office. They want to be sure that they have ample evidence and testimony in order to get a guilty plea or verdict. They already know who kicked and stomped on the officer, but they will be looking for multiple witnesses to collaborate the story and/or a signed confession from the perpetrator(s). DeBusk has already stated that more arrests, plural, are expected and I'm guessing tomorrow or Thursday.

I concurr. With the cop in the hospital and the resultant publicity, the da's office is not going to screw this up. A less than stellar result could be a career killer!
