Hooker says he's moving on to something else by Twitter. Awwwwww, how I'm going to miss him...Not! I hope the Fucking dipshit moves to another market.

Nope, he's going to join a to-be-named co-host on a 3-6 show on the new 100.3 starting August 1.

Screw the 100.3 show. It's going to suck worst than the rest of them.

I can't stand all of those arrogant blowhards at the KNS / 990am. Mike Strange is about the only one that I can stomach. Their radio programming is just God awful, and they take every opportunity to remind everyone that they are NOT UT supporters. Give me the 1180am programming over those other dorks. At least Basilio, Fair and White and the Inside Tennessee geeks admit that they are UT alumni and root for the teams.

Because that's what you want in a press corps. Homers.

I didn't say I want homers. I just personally don't care for most of the fat, bloated, free hot dogs in the press box eating tards that make up the majority of the Knoxville media.

Or do you want non UT supporters with such a chip on their shoulder to prove they are not UT supporters that it affects their work? Because that is a big problem in the Knoxville market.

Another problem is that once UT or a UT coach, administrater, etc. crosses a media enitity War is declared. This isn't a problem on 1180.

No, you said you wanted people who "root for the teams."

That's not my job.

It's also not my job to have an axe to grind about coaches, teams and players.

I try my best to tell it like it is, good and bad, even about the coaches and players I don't like. There've been several people I've dealt with on the beat in the past six years who I could not stand. But when they did well, I gave them credit.

The new management at the radio station is making a serious mistake bringing in the Tuba Virtuoso. He is not liked among the vast majority of people that would be interested in tuning in to a new show. Advertisers in the Knoxville market would be wise to not waste their dollars by sponsoring a show that will be in trouble a month after it goes on the air. Obviously, I have no use for Capt. Hookey, but even just as obviously, there are many others who have the same attitude.

I am not debating you about the duty of a journalist to not show bias. (Of course personalities like Hannity, Olberman and O'Reilly might say otherwise.) I just personally do not care for the majority of the sports writers and talk show hosts in Knoxville. As a whole, I think that they are very arrogant, entitled and just plain annoying. They are making their living off the backs of UT alumni and fans. Guys like Hooker, West, Griffith, Hyams...they annoy the Hell out of me. That is why I do not subscribe to the KNS, listen to their shows or support them in anyway. Again...this is my opinion. I try to call it like I see it as well.

...I would give Hooker a 5 or a 6. The pickings are rather slim. I had hoped that John Pennington would be the guy at 100.3. Evidently, he was approached but wanted too much money and/or perks. Same for Basilio.

After those two...who's left? John Wilkerson maybe, but he's not going anywhere.

All seem to agree that Mickey Dearstone is the worst of the worst. In breeding has been a problem with Dick Broadcasting and Citadel. With old-timer Ed Brantley getting down-sized, the good ole boy culture may be changing. Mickey went way back with Ed and others. That has to be the only reason he remains on the air. He is beyond horrible on so very many levels.

Hooker can be decent. He tries a bit too hard to be funny. Irreverent is fine. But he takes it too far at times and becomes goofy. One of his strengths is his handling of callers. He gets em in and out in a hurry. Roger wouldn't stand a chance.

A key will be Hooker's chemistry with his sidekick. I don't know if the contract has been signed, so I won't name names. I will say that I think the choice of sidekick is very solid and will do a good job...IF...he and Hooker work well together.

I can stomach Hooker about half the time. Overall, he does a decent job, but he's so goofy with that annoying laugh. I'll give his new show a listen if it's online because I prefer Knoxville shows over the ones down here in Atlanta. Finebaum is beyond awful, and John and Jimmy are like fingernails on the chalkboard.

Agree on all points.

I thought he was good paired up with Fred White when he would come in.
