Only in the good ole USA would we have to suffer through Alexi Lalas as expert commentator for ESPN? Why? Because he is a marketable cartoon character type.
But wouldn't it be so much better to hear John Harkes, Eric Wynalda, Brian McBride, Tab Ramos, Marcelo Balboa, Paul Caligiuri, Kyle Rote, Jr., Bruce Arena, Steve Sampson, etc., etc., etc.,............ Anybody but this moron.

I laughed tonight when he said this reminds him of 98 and that he doesn't think the team will be ready. If this team was available in 98 he wouldn't be on it. I would love for Arena to be on but he doesn't have a great personality.

Eric Wynonna gets on my nerves when he tries to mimic David Beckhams accent , do any of you guys subscribe to the Fox soccer channel , they have some good shows like World football rivalries , club football rivalries , the Contenders covering all the world cup match ups , the greatest featuring the best players ever tonight they featured the great Brazilian Zico , they also show Sky sports news several times a day , well worth the 5 dollars a month subscription fee that Comcast charges here in Knoville , they also throw in Goltv :alc:

One consolation for you guys is that you will get the British commentators for the actual games , although Andy Gray probably needs sub titles for you guys :biglaugh:

Quote from Oracle on Dooley noted :biglaugh:
Well, to change the tone slightly, I accepted the invite to post on Soccer Shaminism and did so. However, I was treated very rudely by EV. Elcon was more helpful but I shan't post over there again without a sincere apology.
You still have not got your apology arsewipe , yet you have just shown yourself to be someone whom is just not interested in soccer , like i predicted you where just on here to take the PISS , so you have got yourself a 2nd Yellow card which in soccer parlance means you also got a Red card , therefore you are banned from Soccer Shamanism , i will give you a few hours to apologize to the real soccer fans on this board

I have to take back my comments on Alexi. He is IMO the best commentator of any on ESPN. Even better than Jurgen Klinsmann, who is pretty good. Poor Jurgen can't say much when the topic is players taking dives and flopping. He was one of the best (or should I say worst) ever at that. Awkward moment whenever they bring that subject up. Alexi doesn't mince his words when ripping players doing this. Not much Jurgen can say.
BTW, can you believe how Ruud Gullit's appearance has changed? He used to look like the typical Euro-trash player. Now he looks like he could star in a Hollywood movie as the tough guy. When I first saw his name under his face on ESPN, I didn't believe it was him. He's good, but not as good as Alexi.
