Freezing up. AVG (the pay one),malwarebytes, microsoft security essentials(one at a time) don't find anything. Opened the thing and the heatsink under the fan is clogged with dust. Going to go buy a little vac thingee. Would this be enough to make the thing freeze up?

I would think so. It's equivalent to having your car overheating. Once you clear out the dust, see if everything is back to normal. If not, try a system restore to a couple days ago (or before problem existed). If that doesn't work, do a full restore (only if you have all files and software backed up), as it will restore everything back to how you bought the thing.

If none of that works, seriously think about converting to a Mac or a Linux-based PC.

Thanks view.I'm gonnna Hoover the sucker tonight. I had a Mac once, Imac bought it because I thought it looked cool. Hated the stoopid thing and donated it to the kids school 90 days later. I really think the Mac/PC debate boils down to a left brain, right brain thing.

A buddy of mine had the iMac a few years ago, and I hated it also, mainly because Internet Explorer was your only option at the time (I think). It sucked, looked cheap, and I couldn't figure out how to find anything on there. But now, with Firefox and other browsers available,as well as Apple being smart, they made it so it runs basically just like a PC (except for the shortcuts), so the transition from PC to Mac is much easier now than before.

I love the fact that I don't have to deal with all those virus protection programs, malware, spyware, etc BS anymore.

Is UNIX based I think and is extremely stable. If a rare crash of a program occurs then you just Force Quit that program and no restarts. Don't get Ads and rarely get Junk Mail. No viruses. All the programs work the same and work with each other.

The Mac Safari and Mail programs are both very good but Firefox is available if needed. Only negative as I see it is the massive amount of Games on the PC platform for the gamers. Macs have a decent amount of games but no where near as much as a PC. Tax Software, Presentation Software, Graphic Designs, Financial Software like Quicken, Spreadsheets, Word Processing, etc all work as good or better on a Mac compared to a PC.

My PC was freezing up a lot last week, after new updates. The updates for Mircosoft Office were causing the problems. Deleted them, no more freezing.
