First time No. 1 seed in Super Regionals has ever been knocked out of World Series action. Gumpettes saw a two out, two run homer sail over the fence in the bottom of the seventh and Hawaii now advances to Oklahoma City. SEC colors now carried by SEC East, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida (if they win one of next two games).

Hated to see Bama lose. It would have been cool to see 4 SEC teams in the World Series. Bama has an Atlanta girl playing CF who my daughter has faced several times in recent years so I was pulling for her. I like Patrick Murphy but the truth is that he let Hawaii lean into too many pitches and get away with free bases. I've seen college games in the past where even bonafide attempts to get out of the way of inside pitches weren't rewarded with free bases. What Hawaii was doing was ridiculous although I can't blame them for taking what the umps were giving them.

The ugly truth is that a the quality of the umps in college ball can sometimes be as bad as SEC football refereeing although in the case of the umps it's just pure incompetence instead of possible corruption. If you can believe it, we've twice run across umps who refused to call change-ups for strikes "because they had an arc". Here in Atlanta we have a standard insulting name for horrible fastpitch umps. We call them "Alabama baseball umps" because a couple of a years an important ASA qualifier in Columbus, GA hired a bunch of ignorant, incompetent baseball umps from across the state line and they proceeded to turn the qualifier into a near disaster. From then on the term "Alabama baseball ump" became the ultimate insult to be hurled at an ump around these parts. In the Super Regionals we saw some very bad pitch calling with inconsistencies galore. Bama in particular seemed to be singled out for a horrible strike zone. I'd never before seen Patrick Murphy go nuclear; he seemed like the ultimate laid-back coach. He came unglued when those umps wouldn't give his pitchers a strike right over the plate while giving Hawaii free bases on change-ups that hit them while they just stood there and made no attempt to avoid them. Nothing against Hawaii; in my experience facing Hawaiian teams in travel ball they have always been the most polite and most sportsmanlike teams we've ever seen. But Bama was robbed IMO.

I don't hate Bama like I do the Gayturds. I respect them for not following UT's lead and leaving a terrible coach in charge oftheir football program for many years after it became obvious that he sucked. Nor did they give up after a misfire on his replacement. Or the next one... :biglaugh: The point is that they - unlike us for too many years - kept at it until they got it right. Beyond that while some of their fans are as bad as they get at least they don't make up 99.9999999% of their fans like the relocated New Jerseyans that make up the Gayturd/Jorts Nation. I've run across numerous intelligent, respectful Bama fans. The next such Gator fan I run across will be the first I've ever encountered. There's bad and then there's the Gayturds who occupy a special (low) place in fandom that other schools, whether it be Bama, Michigan, or UGA can only aspire to reach.

Also, as I mentioned, Bama has a player who we know from years of high school and travel ball that we pull for.

...you hate bama. I've told my wife, a bama fan, a zillion times before, that if our son was an all star QB and decided to play at bama, I'd hope he wins the heisman, gets drafted first, makes a million a day, and goes winless his entire career with the turd.

You might hate Florida more, but you hate bama.

I do hate them but I hate them like I hate, say, LSU or maybe Ark. The hate I have for Jorts U is on a completely different level. As I said, I've actually run across more than a few normal, decent people who are Bama fans. Partsman is a perfect example. But I'm convinced that there is no such thing as a decent Gayturd fan. One must be discriminating when deciding who to despise and in the case of Gayturd it's not hard at all to decide who should get the majority of my hatred. I hate everything about them starting with their SOB of the Century Steve Superior and extending all the way to their insulting gator chop. If Osama bin Laden were named the new Head Coach of FSU I'd pull like crazy for FSU when they play UF.

They are at least respectful of the SEC history even if they have to make it up themselves.

The Gayturds think that the SEC started in the 90s. And you can't tell them any different.
