Kind of perplexing all the bad reviews of this movie. No, its not Flynn frolicking thru Sherwood Forest with his band of merrymen snatching gold bags off rich interlopers. No it's not Kevin Costner making a fool of himself by being the only character in the movie without an english accent.
What it is is FINALLY a BADASS Robin Hood. If anyone can play a badass it's Russell Crowe. It seems as if he took off his Gladiator gear and replaced it with chainmaille (sic?) Not as much action or battle sequences to make it spectacular, but my gawd, the sequences are OUTSTANDING.
It's dark, dreary, but medieval england was a dark and dreary place (sorry, English, it still is).
It rapes the history of the age but almost all movies of this sort do. If you take it for what it is and not what you expect, you'll enjoy it.
