We went through this last year. Now in the scrimmage you had another fumble handing the ball off, an underthrown intereception that he'll have to look at film to figure out what happened. I can't stand to go through this all over again. If you haven't learned to make a hand off after 5 years then I see no hope. I wish B.J would be getting all the reps. He was 17-22 yesterday, not bad. I can't handle another year of Crompton. HELP!!!!!!

I know he wants to get a fresh start on the players but at QB you just HAVE to see the Waynesville Worm Burner at work. I had heard that he showed up well in practice last year but, of course, this was with a Green Jersey on and against the 2nd and 3rd teamers since Phildo had his mind made up.

to move in another direction. coleman or stephens. maybe clk is letting crumpty screw up to hang himself. the coaching staff has placed competition as a major priority and that hasn't been going on under fulmer the last few years.

Keep in mind we only have 2 healthy QBs. BJ can't take every snap in spring. Nick is coming back but still not 100%.

You can't bench Crompton in the spring and have one healthy QB to take all the reps left in spring. Relax.

Folks, get a grip on reality. If Crompton-'09 is just like Crompton-'08, Kiffin and Co. will not start him. If Crompton-'09 has improved and is capable of doing the job as the coaching staff want it done, then he will start. I have faith that the new regime will not feel it owes Jon any more than an equal opportunity to perform. Our best QB will start in September.

I agree. It seems that as the speed of the game is ratcheted up, JC struggles to keep up. However, if the coaches can get him to improve and he is our best chance to win, then so be it. BJ is getting ample opportunity to win the job and it sounds like that won't happen. If he becomes our starter, it will be because the other guys just made too many mistakes.

In my own opinion, I can't see JC getting the starting job and keeping it past September. I will not sleep well the night before UCLA if he is our starter.

Stephens still has his shot to win the job and from what has transpired so far, I think we should all be hoping he wins the job, as the other two have not done much to bolster the position.

At the end of the day, we have a lot of time for these guys to get better. It will be a long summer of uncertainty if the QB pecking order is as jumbled as it appears at this time. I wonder how it will effect "voluntary" workouts? Which QB will run the show for summer drills? Will this divide the team? A QB rift among the team hurt us badly in 2005, but I think we have the type of leadership in our new coaching staff to keep that from happening this year.

My prediction - whoever wins the job for WKU is not the QB for GA/AL. We will see multiple starters again in 2009.

Exactly. I think the staff is going to let the team ultimately make the decision since it will be apparent from everything that happens in practice and the scrimmages which QB they have more confidence in.

Whatever it is that BJ has been having trouble with that caused CLK to make the comments in the press he did has to be corrected if he's going to be the guy. It looks like he clearly outperformed Crompy yesterday, although he was going 2s vs 2s most if not all of the scrimmage.

Stevens is still my odds on favorite to win it.

BJ is a winner. Always will be a winner.

Several dumbasses havent figured that one out yet.

If BJ isnt QB by 3rd game I will put Kiffen in the Dumbass category.

Fundementals are great but a good running game and BJ improvising when we have to throw can win the day. This aint the pros.

Besides how can we afford insurance and lawyers for Crompton when we are sued for Vandalism for tearing up opponents fields with Worm Burners?

Kiffin et al. are in this for the long haul.
They came in saying everyone has an equal chance. They are giving JC his chance. They are keeping their word.
They are not going to humiliate JC or any other player. It's not what they do. The players might go out and humiliate themselves, but on this field, right now, it's all about football. On this field, it's going to be all about football as long as they are there.
Leave personalities at the street.

No matter how much we'd like to know their impressions of this group, we're never going to know. That could be used against us with other recruits. The coaches know that keeping their eyes on the prize (let's see how many more trites I can work in) is more important.

If I had sons to entrust to coaches, these are the men who I would hope would be ex loco parentis to my kids.

So, we're not going to see JC benched. Instead we're going to hear positives. The players read how they've been evaluated. They are being treated as sentient adults. Because they're evolving into adults with specific responsibilities.
No clipboard throwing allowed.

The coaches are being very fair to the players, so that they can see just what kind of talent that they have inherited. They want to now what they can do and what they can't do. Thats why they are being a long leash at this point. This is how you get the players to buy into your plan. Let them know that the jobs are open and that they can truly win that job with strong performances.

Now, that being said, I do not like The crap coming out of Ruff n' Tuff's mouth. (http://www.govolsxtra.com/news/2009/apr/04/ball-security-issues-scrimmage-filled-with/)

Crompton's interception came when cornerback C.J. Fleming nabbed an underthrown ball intended for Gerald Jones, who finished with just one catch.

"I know I underthrew him," Crompton said. "I've got to get back and watch the film and see if anything mechanically was there. I don't really know right now."

Either Ruff n' Tuff is blaming Gerald Jones for running a bad route or he is mind fucked and using his ex-head coach's lame excuses. Either way, he needs to man up and say, "it was my fault". Move on and get better.

Someone help me out here--aren't fumbled exchanges between QB and RB (handoffs not pitches) highly unusual at this level of football? I can't recall our local high school team having one in the last couple of years, although I suppose it's possible there was one in there somewhere that I missed. Point being, Crompy has had what, at least 3 during games last year, and some others during practice? Which leads me to wonder why he would ever see the field if he can't get the problem corrected, which is obvious at this point.
