I made a hole in one yesterday morning at Laurel Valley GC in Townsend. The shot was 150-160 yds, with a six iron, on #2 (a downhill par three). I really didn't believe it until I saw the beat up Beta Ti ball in the hole.

I cannot attribute the shot to anything other than dumb luck and hitting a decent tee shot. Regardless it was fun hitting a shot like that as I guess it was a once in a lifetime shot for me. My wife witnessed the shot, anyone else that has played with me would probably think I was lying.

Congrats, Stoli! I believe you man. Don't sweat the hows or whys. The closest I've ever come to a hole-in-one was a crappy line drive into the side of a hill on a very short hole. The ball hit the hill, popped six feet in the air, and rolled on a lumpy green to within a couple of inches. I woulda still claimed it, but it woulda been uggg-ly.

Yeah, I witnessed one made by my old bosses' wife and she got a replica flag from the course with the hole's number. Cheap, but nice.

Good suggestion, I had not thought of that.

I had mine in 1999 & 2001...both times I was using a Precept ball...They sent me a dozen balls each time and a hole in one certificate with the Golf course name and hole number on it....Also if you are a member of USGA they will send some stuff....I got a hole in one Bag Tag from them and a plaque..

Congrats Stoli:rock: In the twenty years of playing I've never had or even seen one. I played a shot last year just like I wanted and still can't figure out how it didn't go in.

Way to go! Some of us (by us, I mean me) have played our whole lives and never got one. My son got one last year at Millstone #16, he was 14 at the time. He was playing with a beat up ball he had found a couple of holes before and the look on his face was priceless! I bought him a wooden ballholder shaped like a "1" with the date, course, hole # and club used that I ordered online for a very reasonable price. Do the same, you never know when or if you'll get another.

I didn't take up golf until 4 years ago and rarely shoot under 100. In my case, I am guessing it was a once in a lifetime shot. I put the ball and scorecard on the mantle for the time being but the ball holder sounds like a good idea. I hit a beat up ball on that hole because I have lost several on that hole by pulling the ball to the right of the hole (I'm a lefty) into a creek or getting too much of the ball and hitting it over a road behind the green.
