Look like transfer Minor Bowens is rattling some cages at defensive tackle.
Bowens, a 6-3, 293-pounder, is a stranger to UT football but no stranger to Williams. Their high school careers back in Memphis overlapped a bit.
“Minor is doing good,” Williams said. “He's quiet but when Coach (Ed) Orgeron gives him a chance he makes the most of his opportunity. He's making plays for the team, working hard in the weight room and going hard every day.
“I know Minor personally. We're both from Memphis and I know how Minor played in high school, so I think he'll be a good player for us this fall.”
If Dan Williams is correct about fellow tackles Brown, Hughes and Bowens, the position many UT

The numbers and size are there. Williams, Hughes and Brown can definitely play SEC ball, Brown just needs to pack on about 20 lbs.
You throw in Walls and Jeffrey, and even if the other three (Langley, Nelson & Victor Thomas) can't play, you've still got a good solid rotation. Walls looked great playing DT in the JV game against us. Jeffrey, although not highly rated after his injury, was a dominant prospect before it.
If GW and Martin can step it up at DE then this line has a chance to be dominating.

Looks like Langley may be moved to offensive guard. I kinda wish they'd take a look at Victor Thomas over there also. If Walls gets in school, the DT positions suddenly look pretty darn good both talent wise and depth wise.

I agree, Walls is key, as is Jeffrey recovering from his injury. If both of those happen we'll be in excellent shape on DL.

I didnt think Jeffrey was going to be ready this year?

Warner, my guess is Thomas and Nelson both are out of here by fall. I think both would have already been moved to OL except I think staff doesn't believe they can help anywhere

Damn, two more swings and misses by Fulmer. They can't even play on the scout team? Or are the 6:00 am workouts and hustle just too much for them?

Nelson was about a 238 pound defensive end and was a four star prospect I believe, out of Oklahoma. His career has been short-circuited by injuries and the fact that Flummo and the Beef tried to move him inside to tackle because of their inability to recruit any stud tackles at all.
I'm still holding out slight hopes that Thomas does move to offense and hangs on. But if they both leave that means they were, in fact, recruiting mistakes by Flumtard and company.

That is kind of scary to me. If he is able to move up our charts, what does it say about the players he is passing. Maybe I am missing something, but when I looked up his stats at TSU, he had zeroes across the board. If he can't crack the line up at TSU, what does that say?

every college team in division one has swings and misses in every class. upwards of between 30-40% misses. In fact, as I have posted on several message boards, Tennessee had less attrition than anyone but Georgia. Not updated since last April but here were numbers at that point. I'm sure we will continue to have misses in the future. As I said, all miss. Nature of the recruiting game..
Following information covers 2002-2007 signing classes for SEC schools. Research was to find from those signing classes, the number of players that failed to complete their eligibility at that school. Failures were counted for: players getting dismissed, failing school, transfers, just quit playing football or unknown reasons. If players left school early for NFL, I do not count them as failing to complete eligibility. Last updated in April 2008
