I saw it was considered but never saw it confirmed.
Sexton's wet dream is to have as many coaching changes as possible. If he can shuffle several of his clients into new deals, then he cashes in every time. It is not just the top guys, it's the sheer volume that the domino effect creates. Sexton's like the mob, making money off the vig. He doesn't care that much who's hired or fired as long as one of his clients gets moved.
It's also Sexton and his ilk that largely create the economy and set the values for HC and now coordinators. Coordinator pay has skyrocketed faster than HC pay.
John Chavis made $250 K at UT as recently as 2006. It was up to $340K ($275,000 base salary plus $65,000 equipment fee (Adidas), and $1,900 longevity, + use of two Lexus automobiles) in his 2008 year at UT.
He made from $450 K to $525K(depending upon reports and how bonuses were structured) for 2009 at LSU. For 2010 he is set to make $700K and he has a three year contract.
That's a whole lotta tacos.
