Surely not WR's with Baggett on staff?

I am beginning to think Roper and Luke might have been better. We probably could have gotten Tee Martin instead.

Like Dooley said, just because a certain coach isn't a big name guy, doesn't mean anything. It's being a TEAM.
These last few "big fish" coaches we hired worked out grrrrreat huh?!?!?!

WTF would an "up and comer" be doing coaching at that shithole of a place in MemPiss? Why on earth would you not offer Trooper Taylor 500-600K to come on as WR coach and Recruiting Coordinator? Instead we hire some FIRED coach from MemPiss and you are wondering why I am flabbergasted at the state of UT Football???
Next mission for ya- find out if this MemPiss reject is a Jimmy Sexton client. If true then it ALL makes sense since Sexton is our One Man Search Committee for all coaches at UT it seems.

Had 2 good ones at Mempiss with Calhoun and Singleton, probably two of their best ever. I am nonetheless underwhelmed. He looks like a preppy white boy from Dook. He better have the Dooley's confidence for a reason is all I can say, and he better know how to recruit like a mofo.
HAS coached RB's in the past at MTSU. Had a cup of coffee with the Browns and played a little Arena ball.
I dunno.

Thank you Drewdat, Baggett is the wide receivers coach. He's the one that's had all the 1000 yard receivers in the NFL.

Wasn't by choice I promise you. My Mom was in hospital all week last week so with the Kiffinator throwing the program into turmoil and her being laid up, I was too busy to spend much time on message boards.. Mom doing fine for an 89 year now. Whiny, but been that way for several years.

How the fuck do you know AV? There are good coaches everywhere dying for a chance with power conferences.
It is pretty much a fact now that no established coach wants to leave their job 2 weeks before NSD so we are stuck in this shithole. Best to fight out of it and not continue to bash the current coaching situation until you can actually see the end product. Nobody's happy right now but the constant barrage of negativity sucks ass. If you know so much why don't you donate time to the UTAD - I'm sure they would be willing to listen to someone who seems to know it all.

Well, that's down to two now, and it could keep going. I'm not sure this staff will be equivalent to last year's (call Monte a "good DC" for sake of comparison), and that's not a good thing with how slim the margin of error is in this rebuild.
Keep in mind that this staff is somewhat behind on 2011 recruiting and will likely have a tough year recordwise to recruit off of. Also, while we may end up with decent NFL ties, it won't be anywhere near Monte's level of influence. I doubt we get as much of the "Now" factor treatment from ESPN either. All of these are intangible, but they're going to combine to make it tough to turn things around quickly.
These two recruiting classes are pretty vital to CDD's success, IMO. In 2011, Fulmer's thin final class are seniors, so this year's class (sophomores or RS freshmen by then) will have to fill the void. By 2012, Fulmer's recruiting will (finally) be cycled through, so if Kiffin's lone class holds together and Dooley brings in some good classes, we could have a "surprise" year then (assuming the next two years are going to be .500 type). 2013 will be all Dooley, with this class and 2011's as upperclassmen, so if the classes are average, then...

I can't see any way Hinshaw helps with recruiting in this class. Maybe there's a Memphis recruit, but I doubt it. So, IMO, we might as well have waited on this one until after NSD and kept an eye on who else came open, unless Dooley was dead set on Hinshaw.

We will see if Dooley is good at spotting talented coaches or not I guess. With Kiffin we didn't have to wonder. All of his guys were accomplished and there was little guesswork involved. They were proven commodities and their skills fit the roles intended for them.
Really guys, I don't like the looks of this at all. We are getting a bunch of pasty white guys with pretty thin resume's compared to what we should be getting and there doesn't seem to be much of a plan as to who we are choosing. If it is true that Garza chose Kiffin over Dooley then that speaks volumes about who Garza thought would be most successful in the long run.
It is early but all of the signs are pointing towards this being a bad hire for us.

I am planning to give CDD 4 years to see if he gets the program going in the right direction. It was going to be a rebuilding job even with the all star staff.
But if this hire turns out bad, it could be 10 years of rough times ahead.

Garza choose Monte Kiffin, not Lane Kiffin. He thinks that working under Monte for a few years will propel him to a DC role. There is speculation that he hung around for a few extra days to see if UT was going to fire him so that he could collect his 2010 salary.

Trying to stay calm but many of you slam a new Coach even before you know anything about the guy? I was right here in Central Florida when this guy was QB at UCF and he was awesome. Look up his stats, please. This guy has moved up the ranks and coached 2 WR at Memphis to all time records there. Not to mention he is from FLorida and has a ton of ties here. This is a great hire for Tennessee and I am glad to see this guy on board. Before you slam someone check him out first.

Or Garza never intended to stay here but was instructed to stay and see if he could get UT to fire him so Kiffin wouldn't have to pay him the first year.

Monte's coaching vs. spread offenses last fall was well below average. There are college DCs who could have done a much better job vs. spread with UT's talent on defense. Monte will be 70 years old soon and now Lame has drug him out to that hell hole called Los Angeles. Lame is gonna get what's coming to him and it will be sooner rather than later.

I'm ready to give the guy a chance. Here's what I read on another site:
I heard that there was a riot in Miami over recruits fighting amongst themselves to be the 1st guy to sign papers for Coach Hinshaw. This wasn't a homerun. It was a foul ball that caught the umpire in the cods.

Yup, he's like the skinny white kid who goes down to the hood to ball on the weekend. He's gonna get instant disrespect until he shows HE GOT GAME. And if he ain't got it, he will be dismembered.
I try to keep reminding myself that Dooley has been an RC in this conference and knows the deal.....

Garza had no assurances from Dooley he would be retained. DC was going to have a say in that. He had USC offer and could not wait any longer

Is just what the UT FB program has regressed to. Getting fired preppy white boy assistants from Tiger High and hoping some crumbs fall our way with the Slime 28 rule as a poster on the recruiting site was wondering. Geez, UT Football is in the gutter.

:madfury: he doesn't know, just the usual venting. As for the negativity, that is and always will be AV. He likes to judge. AV missed his calling in life, should have been one of those Truman Capote types except instead of writing books he would be writing articles opining on the Broadway plays he saw each week
