I like, but he wouldn't be here in time to help with recruiting this year, and DL is an area of HUGE need, perhaps the biggest hole on the team.

Looks to be the "assistant DL coach" rather than the actual DL coach unless I be reading his bio wrong. That would be quite the leap to DC if true.

Geez, since Monte was earning 1.3 Million bucks then go out and offer Bud Foster 800K-1 Million bucks and see if he bites.

Bud Foster is HC in waiting at Va Tech. Only way he leaves is for an HC job.

Travis Jones coached with CDD at LSU in 2003 & 2004 and again in 2005 & 2006 with the Miami Dolphins. Both jobs were under Nick Saban.

I might be wrong, but I'm betting 5 years under Coach Saban at LSU and in the pros (he's been with the NO Saints for the last two years) likely gives him the knowledge and ability to be a DC in college.

May be a decent hire in the long term, but it basically screws us in recruiting this year. If the Saints go to the Super Bowl, it will be after signing day before he can join the staff. John Brown is visiting this weekend, and we don't have a defensive coordinator or defensive line coach. We have a few offensive linemen visiting this weekend, but no offensive line coach in place. I really don't see how they will be able to land anyone under these circumstances, but we'll see.
