I'm sorry, you are opposed to this? A black community rising up to sent the message to young black men who are killing other young black men, that it has to stop? I agree that somebody can't spell, but other than that I can see nothing a person of any color would find objectionable.

This is the thing I have a (slight) problem with. I say slight problem because communities trying to become proactive about quelling violence on their own without waiting on the state to fix their problems is a noble thing in principle.

Which kinda illustrates the problem with 'fixing' race relations: the minorities really dont want to desegregate any more than the majority does. Frankly, I think it's less so.

In other words: if you do away with 'white institutions' but leave 'black institutions', you dont actually fix a problem. You are simply using it as a pretextual weapon, nothing more; and it is not longer actually about equality.

White people could continue to bend over backwards for the next 100 years, but until this dynamic from the other side changes...nothing gets fixed. Currently, you cant even get away with MENTIONING this; much less actually discussing it in earnest without being labeled a racist (which is, truthfully, quite unserious...and itself devalues the entire idea of racism. When everything is racism, nothing is racism...)

Zippy, you pose a much larger issue than this one little community trying to reach the most desperate element in it, young black males who see no hope for their futures except crime and violence. My balls and my brain are not big enough to effectively deal with that bigger problem, but if this one isolated group believes they can reach out to them without the help of whites, we ought to let them try.

If your balls and brain are not big enough to deal with the larger problem, then you should shut the fuck up about the subject. Understand, this is a general 'you' when I say that, not you in particular.

Trying to defend a 'small community' because they are...well..a small community is a copout. The small community is EXACTLY where this problem should be fixed. That's the only way to actually fix it. People have to stop seeing race on a small scale before you can even begin to stop it on a larger one; which is what makes the current strategy on repairing race relations such a farce in the modern world. Nobody does it except white people, and even that is only barely (largely based on just white guilt, so it's more self delusion than anything real).
